New Born Pup
Hi everyone! In mid June we were visiting family when I noticed a Guinea pig kept in heartbreaking conditions in a hoarded house. I took him and drove 7 hours back home with me.
I got him a nice big home complete with name sign and spoil him like crazy!
Just three weeks ago I noticed he had a head tilt that wasn’t going away. Brought him to the vet and they put him on antibiotics and pain meds. A few days of this and he stopped eating or pooping much.
Pulled him off the antibiotics and he slowly started to eat and poop again, and the head tilt improved.
THEN I notice a cloudy eye one morning. Back to the vet. They give me eye ointment. Unfortunately, he will not let me near the eye. Pig E. Smalls is a very dramatic boy. He will fight you will all the strength he has.
So we switch to eye drops. They add a different antibiotic. It’s only been a couple of days of this, and he stopped eating and pooping again. His eye is now also red and bulging. He stopped taking his critical care halfway through tonight and started flinching. I noticed when he had the antibiotics he acted like they burned him.
I can’t tell you how many times we’ve already been to the vet and ER, but I’m calling again when they open today.
Thoughts? I’m thinking he may have antibiotic toxicity, possibly a dental issue that’s pushing the eye out, I don’t know. I’m so tired. I have never dealt with a sick pig before.
The last bill was also $1,000 when I’m out of work and my unemployment just ran out. I’ll just continue to put it on credit cards, but this has all been so much to handle emotionally. Poor little man.
