I posted earlier this year about losing three girls in three weeks all to separate issues, and one was only 2 and a half. They had been in two separate groups, a pair and a trio. I was left with two of the trio, neutered boy Lynx & his girlfriend Mousey. She missed her sister who passed a lot. They had gotten quite lazy and quiet with just the two of them. I got two new baby girls a few weeks ago, apparently they were 10 weeks old when we got them but I think they may have been slightly older.

After a quarantine and no apparent health issues I held the bonding a couple of weeks ago. It was a bit stressful and lots of personalities mixing! But they all got along, within a day or two the tensions had died down and they all seem to be a nice group now.

Ive never had a group of this many all together so its nice to see the herd dynamics. The grey little girl has grown a lot lol and is very cheeky and bold..able to boss the adult pigs around already. The red girl is very scared when it comes to handling so I had her out with her big sister to help. Overall they are all more active now together and I think the young ones really enjoy being with the adults.

What a gorgeous herd.
I’m pleased everything has worked out well for you
Thank you! I still miss the others everyday and it was a traumatizing time. I plan to get out of the pig cycle after this but at least with these 4 hopefully they will all have companionship for the foreseeable 😊

Your babies are looking very healthy and are feeling very much at home to show their personalities. Youngsters can really rekindle the zest of life in adults. Group dynamics are fascinating, aren't they?

Babies at that age simply want to belong to a group and be taken on by a 'teacher' piggy to show them the ropes. Most owners are not aware how important the formative 'school weeks' between weaning and teenage are.
You may find this article series I have written here interesting: Journey through a Lifetime: The Ages of Guinea Pigs

I’m glad it’s all worked out and they are happy 😃

Four piggies make a perfect group size for a grou with a neutered boy and girls.
Your piggies will have lot's of fun together. And the girl lot's of pickering to do.
Yes, I don't think hes that high up on the pecking order sometimes and is a big baby really but I think he still enjoys having more girls to boss him around 😂

What a lovely little herd you have. Do I spy a ruby eyed girl? I have a soft spot for ruby eyes, as my Mischievous Master Boris has them ❤️

Yes the red girl has red eyes 😊 One of my girls who I lost this year had red eyes so I also have a soft spot for them now. I think its so sad how people are still prejudiced against animals with these kind of coloured eyes. Also interestingly despite the grey baby being so dark her eyes are kind of light grey and glow/reflect the light the same way red eyes do. Maybe if they are actual sisters she got some of those genes

I love red eyed piggies too! When my beautiful Ginger died I was determined to get another red eyed piggie. Ginger’s eyes always reflected the sky and sometimes would actually be amber from the sunshine, so beautiful!
