I have set up the indoor cage in the playroom (moving it from the utility room for my own convenience so it's lower down and easier to clean out). I am experimenting with fleece this year because the woodshavings make me sneeze.

The coffee table is just the right size luckily, and please excuse the poster behind which belongs to my children not my guinea pigs! I am experimenting with a corner litter tray, hoping they might poop there and I will empty out the litter tray and maybe be able to go a bit longer between changing the fleece. Under the fleece is a layer of newspapers and a double layer of old bath towels.

And here is a photo of their favourite treat - an old teabag box stuffed with hay!

I'll let you know how they get on when they move in later today. I also have a couple more beds and toys on order which will go in there in the next few days. The shoebox house is temporary.

Let me know what you think (and yes, there is a food bowl in there, but no guinea pigs yet!).

It looks great!

I have just started experimenting with fleece (same underlay), but I need to secure my fleece with the top, as otherwise my new girls would bury underneath it and not be seen at all all day long!

I hope that your piggies will take to thier new surrounding; don't be worried if you won't see a lot for a few hours or up to a day.

Thanks for your comments. I have just put them in there, and they are already pooping all over the fleece LOL. They seem OK so far.

Hubby will be home soon and won't be pleased to see them inside, I haven't told him I was intending to put them in the playroom. He is not a fan of pets at all - if it was up to him nothing furry would cross our threshold (I got the guinea pigs one day when he was at work without telling him, and he wasn't best pleased rolleyes).

My hubby is a bit more tolerant, but not happy about now five (up from two for the last 4 1/2 year) pigs threatening to take over the house... and the cages getting ever bigger! rolleyesrolleyesrolleyes

We have a cage like that too, and another one a bit diff that they are using at the moment. We are also using fleece, although the fleece on top is actually one of our old baby fleecy blankets. The only **** i have is getting the best fleece that hay wont get too stuck in or is really hard to wash out.

One of my piggies rolo is now free range and is actually litter trained which is amazing and happened by accident but he is older and so just noticed one day he didnt poop on floor when running around. Revel however the youngest poops everywhere lol.

Revel has just been neutered and will when recovered will hopefully get a girl friend.xx
Can we see some pics of them in the cage too he he :<>

lol sorry the stars werent swearing i was saying problem in short lol

I know exactly where you are coming from! Trying to persuade OH to let the piggies come in for the winter, not because of the cold but because me and kids will miss not being out in the garden with them :(

Putting the hay in a teabag box is such a good idea! My piggies will love that x

I like your corner loo and haynet. Mine are in the middle of the cage and take up quite a bit of room. I find the hay gets on the fleece quite a bit, but it's much better than having a loose bedding which gets kicked out of the bars all around whenever they have a funny five minutes!

Here are some pictures taken from above, which show the mess after only about 30 mins in there :))

The cream coloured piggy is Charlie, the brown one is Jack. They are brothers aged around 3 now.

Since then we have had a few poos in the tray under the hay rack, so maybe they're getting the idea :)
