So my little caramel still remains a mystery. I'm getting worried about her. I have a great vet team on board but could use some emotional support after a difficult year piggy wise 🥺😰
- she is down to 560g
- she has had multiple thorough dental checks and her teethies are perfect
- she is 2 years old
- she has lost a lot of weight and then muscle mass so is very bony (everywhere- her sternum sticks out, can feel all the ribs, all the bumps on the spine, shoulder blades etc) but has a very round tummy- no bloating though just an odd defined shape
- she's developed a bald patch on her belly but has no itching or redness and isn't barbering
- she eats like a horse but is being topped up from a bowl with emeraid sustain in an attempt to rebuild muscle and get some reserves back
- we are awaiting blood results. She had a failed blood attempt under anesthetic then eventually a successful set of conscious bloods
- she was treated with baytril, sulfatrim and panacur (no symptoms of infection but as a precaution). It made no difference.
-she's had cisapride and metacam with no difference
-thyroid issues have been ruled out - we did a trail of thyronorm
-xrays are all clear
-she is spayed so cannot have ovarian cysts
-the thyronorm caused her glucose levels to elevate then they returned to normal so diabetes has been ruled out
- she's had a urine protein creatine ratio which was slightly high based on uk data but well within normal with eu data
- she's having random vacent episodes where she just seems to space out and doesn't blink at all, can actually put a finger to her eye during these episodes and she doesn't respond (possible neurological issue mentioned)
-her drinking/peeing is increased, I'm not sure what is considered excessive but this week especially she's been at the water bottle an awful lot
-she has previously had blood/protein in the urine but nothing in there currently!
- other than the above in herself she is happy and eating/pooing normally!

The vet asked last week what i wanted to do next and i said for now go with the trying to build her up plan unless anything changes/ shows in the bloods. Weve been there almost every week and shes had so many tests and medication trails! She agreed and reconmended the emeraid for building her up :) to be honest the piggies need a break from the vets and i need a break from the vets! Though I'm going to pop another email through to mention the drinking this week. The current plan is to focus on trying to build her up! Obviously if anything stands out in the bloods we will have more answers etc but is there any other tests I should be considering/ asking about or do we just accept we might never find the cause now and continue with just the support feeding? We've tried oats, corn on the cob, sweet potato, emeraid ic and are now on emeraid sustain. Its sort of heartbreaking when your having a cuddle and all you can feel is bone. 🥺

Hello, I'm so sorry to hear all you're going through with your little girl, Caramel.
It sounds like you've tried so much already and I can't really suggest anything to help unfortunately.
Hopefully someone else with more experience might be able to offer a suggestion for you.
I wish you well and I honestly think you're a piggy superhero for all you done so far. I know she is only young so it's heartbreaking.
Keep her warm keep trying to feed her up. You're doing an amazing job xx

Thankyou for the hugs! I'm more reassured about the fact she's happy in herself and eating well :) I'm just worried with the lack of reserves she'd struggle with if she got ill etc plus with our history of loosing both mal and nugget this year following weight loss xx
