What are your suggestions everyone? Yesterday I got a rescue pig who loves me but hates most of my other 6 pigs - to the extent that she kept attacking them.

I've kept her with them in the shed overnight in a sectioned off area.

Later I am going to try bonding them again. It will need to be successful otherwise I think I will need to return her.

I've bonded several pigs to this herd over the years and never had a pig that is so aggressive towards other pigs. (The rescue don;t know her background).

I'm tempted to do a bonding bath but also wonder if it might be too stressful.

What do people think? What have you tried with a particularly resistant pig? How long before you accept that bonding just won't work?

Thanks

Bonding can be so tricky. Did you introduce in a neutral territory? I never introduced to a herd so not sure best way to go about it but there are some people here than have so I'm sure they will have some advice for you.

There are some piggies that have been separated very young and kept as singles, so they do not recognise their own species anymore and have now concept of how to deal with them and react often aggressively when face to face with others of their kind. They are usually much more human orientated.

I would not try to introduce her to your group right now; it will never work and it will only serve to set your other girls' hackles up and prevent them from accepting her in the long term. Keep her next to them with interaction through the bars. If you are lucky, she will settle down eventually, but we are talking weeks and months rather than days.

By far not every sow is going to integrate with a group or will by happy as a groupie. I have made that experience as well and have become very careful about researching their background beforehand, especially in those cases when there is no plan B possible.

Thank you Weibke. I don't really have the option of trying that long. I still can't get hold of the rescue place. Leaving messages on every media! Will probably have to take her back to them after lunch.
