One guinea pig has had a problem with one eye for over a week. The thing is that she can't close it (she doesn't blink), which is why she has defects on her cornea as a result of mechanical damage. The pig is given eye drops as recommended by the vet, the cornea has practically healed, but it still cannot move its eyelids. When you bring your finger towards the eye, the guinea pig moves its head back instead of squinting. I don't know exactly what it could be and how to treat it?

I've never heard of this before! It may be worth contacting a specialist vet, perhaps one experienced with eyes.
Its good the cornea had healed, but without the drops I can imagine the surface of the eye would dry out pretty quickly.
Good luck! 🤞❤️

Please keep applying normal tear drops or gel several times a day to prevent the eye from drying out. It would be good to see the vet again.

The only times I have come across this problem has been in a severe stroke survivor whose one body side was impacted from blinking to chewing, head tilt to walking and once in the wake of a severe eye injury - thankfully, we could save that eye and Nosgan even regained sight but he was unable to blink or see during the first week or two. I don't think that either case applies to yours.
