The First Present

This is one of the first Christmas presents I remember getting. I played with it so much. I loved it. It's now £26 on Ebay and it's in the vintage section too @Bertie & Jelly. It had a till roll on the left, and a 1/2p button! You pushed the brown button on the right and there was a "Ting" sound as the drawer shot open.

ooh I had one of those too. Complete with plastic coins!

This is Billy. He was given to me by my great grandma for my first Christmas when I was 5mths old. I don't actually remember getting him of course (so sorry for not answering the question properly ) but I still have him. His squeak has gone and one of his arms is almost off but there's no way I could get rid of him. He mostly lives in the cupboard under the stairs these days but comes out occasionally for a cuddle.

I still have a panda I was given as a baby who now lives carefully wrapped to stop him falling apart. He has no eyes, nose, or mouth and very little fur.
Toys like your Billy and Panda are to be treasured ❤️

This is Teddy. He is 58 years old and was given to my by my lovely Gran the day I was born. He has been well loved over the years and and has undergone major surgery at least once. His mouth is nearly non existent as is his nose and he has very little fur left but he has been my constant companion through good times and bad and is a very good listener and keeper of secrets.

Today I was asked what was the first Christmas present I remember getting.
It was a doll’s house my father made for me. I loved that doll’s house.

So now I’m asking you - what’s the first Christmas present you remember receiving?
My Dad also made me a doll's house, and Mum made bits and pieces for it such as curtains. The house even had working lights, powered by a battery in it's garage. I loved my house too. Long after it's time of being played with, it was kept in the loft. It would have been lovely to have been able to pass it down to my daughter, but in the days that it was made, were the days of leaded paint, and the condition of it deteriorated too much for it to be as safe as it could be any more.

This is Teddy Edward. He is 58 years old and was given to me by one of my Uncle's when I was 1. His fur is looking a bit worn in a few places, but he is still well loved by myself and also my daughter. He has got a bell in one of his ears and you can still get him to growl now and again.IMG_2379.webp

I remember getting a little red bike one year. I loved that bike and still think about it sometimes. It was a Raleigh Poppy with a little bag on the back.
I had a Raleigh Poppy too, birthday present rather than Christmas I think, but I loved that bike so much. Was devastated when I out-grew it.

I’m glad you loved it too. It was an amazing little bike. I was a bit of a tom boy. So I really wanted a BMX too. Obviously I couldn’t have 2 bikes so that Poppy had to do stunts. Bunny hops, ramps. ❤️

As we’re showing the childhood teddies - meet Panda who is 64 years old.
He made an appearance at our wedding when my father, in his speech, held up Panda as an example of what happens when I love for a long time 😁
Poor Panda, he has been loved to death! 🤗

I was a tomboy, saved up and got a used Raleigh grifter, better than a BMX because it was more of a cross country bike. It was adapted to have a fixed wheel (showing my age !)

So many well loved bears (and panda). Always lovely to see a balding bear that has clearly been such a faithful companion.
