I have finally been brave enough to try fleece in the boys cage after posting a thread a few weeks ago. I was going to wait until i had made the c&c cage but because of the snow this week i was unable to go and get the correx, so i put fleece, newspaper and puppy pads in their nero 4 cage.

I went out and bought so more fleece today so i have enough for when i have to wash one lot, it was only £1.99 in B&M.

I really do hope that it works for me as the cage looks so nice with the fleece in. At the moment they have a blue fleece with dolphins on. I have filled a litter tray with hay and newspaper instead of putting it on the floor and then i put their cosy beds the other end.:)

If all goes well i shall buy some of the incontinence pads and use them under the fleece.

I cant wait to see what the boys think later on, as they are out for floortime at the moment. :(|)

I love fleece, speaking of fleece mine needs washed! Aslong as you do spot checks it'll be fine :)

I want piccies of your gorgeous boys on their fleece.
I love seeing piggies on fleece :))

I'm sure they will love it, definately need pics of them trying out their fleece :(|)

Hey J & G!

I put my girls on their fleece this morning too :) They seem to be loving it - and christened it within seconds rolleyes. There has been a lot of popcorning. Willow has tried to have a bit of a nibble at it - but found it didn't taste as good as the hay! I have taken photos of the cage and the girls so will post them later.

I have found they are pooing mainly where they eat their hay so am hoping to be able to litter train them mainly to that area. How are you getting on with the cat litter tray? Mine successfully tipped theirs over so I ended up just putting the hay on the fleece until I was able to get a hay rack this afternoon. I now need to work out a way of securing something underneath it to stop the mess - and hopefully contain their 'mess'. I cannot believe how much 4 baby girls poo :{

I have the inco pads underneath my fleece. It all seems to be working very well - nice and dry. I shall have a good peer tomorrow. The pads I picked up from Amazon can be washed at 90 degrees which is good to know. They seem to be very good - I am really pleased.

Next weekend we are adding the second cage with the ramp between the two. My only worry now is that they do not have any hay to snuggle into - and they are out in the conservatory. They have fleeces over the top the cage, but I am hoping that the fleece underneath them and their wooden house will keep them warm.

Looking forward to hearing how you get on with your new set up - it has to be easier I think. It's certainly going to be easier to clean out.

Here are the photos.

The cage looks smaller in the pictures! I cant wait to make their new c&c cage and hopefully i can do it next week if we dont have anymore snow. rolleyes

This is what the cage looked like before the boys went in.

I hope that they dont think the tray of hay is to sleep in! They dont seem to use their hay rack at all!

That looks fabulous, looks like they give it paws up and is a great success :(|)

That is lovely x)
They look gorgoeus and look very comfy on it.
Where did you get your fleece from? x

Well they have only been in their cage for about 15 mins and they haven't tipped the hay over yet. But Joey is sitting in it and just munching away rolleyes, i hope he dont think its the sleeping area as i was hoping they would sleep in the cosies. Gizmo is just eating veg and dried food at the moment and had a few nibbles of the hay.
If they think its a sleeping area i may have to put it on the floor or make something that's flatter from the correx, when i get it next week, hopefully!

Let me know how you get on with the incontinence pads as i may order some next week if my first 3 days is a success.:(|)

Cant wait to see your photos! :(|)

Thank you. They seem happy with it.

I got the fleece from B&M bargains for £1.99, it very big as ive folded it in the cage, i also have one for floortime which is the same and a another for the cage with tigers on it.

They had some with kittens on and ones with penguins on, the penguin one was nice but it was mainly white so may show up the poo more.

Hello you! Wish I'd had time to see your boys earlier on - hope they enjoy their hay, it's a big box isn't it?

I think your cage looks brilliant and no matter what your pigs have been used to they will get out of the hay and will probably sleep in their cosies. It may take a day or so for the penny to drop but I bet it does. Gypsy is quite an oldie looking at her and she's a fleece pro now and always snuggles up in her crash pad. She does have a nap in the hay loft but her main space is the snuggly bed.

Hope they fleece works out - just be ready to spot clean every day and it will be fine!

:)

I see white showing up the poo as a bonus making spot cleaning a doddle, I have multicoloured flowers and it's hunt the poop ;):))

I'm going to have to get some of that fleece, it's lovely.
Very spoilt boys x

I love that fleece. The boys are so handsome.. My piggies love their fleeces.

Hello!

It was mad earlier when you came, the boys were out on the floor and i was preparing the fleece washing it etc and my mum was making the dinner. I also hadn't long come back from shopping! But I'm so glad that i caught you and thank you so much for bringing it up! Pity you couldn't have stayed and seen the boys! Maybe another time. :)

The boys say 'thank you' and give you lots of love! x)

Yes the box is huge and I'm sure it will last them ages! I have currenlty stored it on my landing with the timothy hay as i have no room downstairs.

I do hope Joey gets out of they hay! It may take him a while as he seems so cosy in it. Gizmo does prefer his cosy as he has always liked sleeping in it. :)

That looks great - we have a Homes and Bargins in town so will see if they have the fleece. Got 2 in Poundworld and 2 in Asda £1 but dont think they are as big.

I think Il order some inco sheets - any in particular that are good? Then will introduce Monty to fleece.

He will get too warm in the igloo but Its somewhere for him to hide at the mo until I order some toys and Id like a small wooden house for his cage.

Got some puppy pads from Poundshop today to try.

Think Il be doing a lot of cleaning as Monty gets impacted so expecting lots of piles of poops everywhere:))rolleyes

Where do you get the cosies from?

Hey no worries. I know I just turned up out the blue! We should have a south wales meet up somewhere. I'd have loved to have met your two boys, next time for sure.

I am worried about the snow and as you are 20 minutes away it seemed silly not to just get in the car and do it! Better than a courier that was!

I have most of my supplies under the stairs but this new box doesn't fit so I need to think where to put it!

Yeah that would be good to have a south wales meet up, i wonder how many of us would attend?

Do you think we will get anymore snow? I was just looking at the BBC wales weather and they said light snow tomorrow. So maybe we will miss it, i do hope so as its getting a bit of pain now, even though it looks nice on the hills and trees.

You were definalty better than a courier! Fast service! :))

Met office for Cardiff is saying starting tomorrow and going on and an through to weds. But it looks light so maybe it will be something and nothing.

I agree it's a pain! I thought our street was bad but yours was worse. I parked at the bottom of the street and walked up. It was deep enough not to be slippery.

I reckon we'd have 4 or 5 altogether for a small meet up. Would have to be somewhere we could bring a guinea or two!

Maybe the snow wont be as bad as they are saying.

I told you it was deep by me. Ive not managed to get my car off the drive yet but have to think about doing that tomorrow for work Monday. When we drove down the street it was a little slippery today but the pavements are ok to walk on without slipping!

We should arrange a meeting in the summer so the pigs wont have to go out in the cold. :)

Thought i would do an update on how the fleece is going.

I done a spot clean this morning and Gizmo was very happy and done a popcorn! Last night i put back in their little bits of wood that clip onto the cage to make a corner cover/house and put their cosies underneath and instead of sleeping in the hay they slept in the cosies! Then this afternoon i took out the fleece and shook the fleece into the bin to get the poo/hay and then gave it a good shake, all clean. Its so much easier than the megazorb and its nice and dry even though i put the puppy pads the wrong way so the absorbing bit was on the bottom instead of the top! But that's fixed now and no smell! Even my fiance said that it dont smell and that's its better than megazorb! I hope it continues to stay nice and fresh. :))

I have to say I am extremely impressed too. The cage is dry as a bone. Huge amounts of poo though! I just used a dustpan and brush and it all swpet up beautifully in just a couple of minutes. It has to be more hygenic - we wouldn't be cleaning the poo out of the megazorb every day (although I do poo pick the chooks every day without fail). The girls definitely seem happy. Just hope they are warm enough an just fleece - with tubes and their wooden house.

I think we made a good move J & G! As you say, smell free - although the girls definitely don't smell anywhere near as much as my boys did, if at all. ANd it is going to be so much easier to clean out - ok a couple more loads of washing but so be it. The lack of dust is a definite plus for them and me (I have a dust allergy). Like you though I couldn't work out if I had put the inco pads in the right way up! LOL!

I agree we did make a good move, just hope i haven't spoken too soon, but I'm sure it will continue to go smoothly. :(|)
I'm sure they are warm enough, i worried about that too and mine are our living room! rolleyes
