To mark the 25th anniversary of the web and the general worldwide push for privacy, The Guinea Pig Forum will now be exclusively served over HTTPS*.

What is HTTPS?
In short it's an end to end encrypted connection between yourself and our server. You can see the content we serve to you and we can see content you serve to us, but in theory no third party that might be snooping on the network can tell what is being sent and received.

Do I have to do anything in order to use HTTPS?
No, everything is already set up, there's no action needed on your part, if you're reading this message you're already connected securely, look for the padlock in your address bar.

Do I have to change bookmarks, links or anything else?
No, all links to http://www.theguineapigforum.co.uk will redirect to https://www.theguineapigforum.co.uk

Do I have to use HTTPS links to images or sites in posts?
No, we now proxy all images and links dynamically, any external images will be requested by the server and displayed to you by the server over a secure connection. Links are also proxied, an external site will not be able to tell which page you arrived from but they will know you came from here. As is always the case we can't be held responsible for the content or security of external internet sites.

*with exceptions for devices and browsers that refuse to accept the security certificate.

@Falken if only that was our server! :) Probably this....

:) You guessed it, we're not hosted on a mid 90s mainframe, would be cool and certainly something I'd do if I won the lottery, just for the hell of it.
