Its nice, although a little small :( But you are making good use of the space available. Could you extend the top so the bottom as inclosed and the top layer had more floor space too? Is that a heater by their cage? if so be very carefull with their hay near it.

Wow, you've worked really hard. That's a lot more space than a conventional cage. Ingenious problem solving with the ramp. Hope they love it. :)

i would have made the top floor bigger but ive lost a few of the clips! doh! I'm going to get some zipties from work tommorrow and tie in place of the clips in places where they cany reach. The heater packed in about a week ago so its not being used. i got other heaters round the place and tbh they keep the place as warm as when it did work.

i need to double the front anyway as leon can eaisily jump in like he did yesterday!

Great stuff then austin, i felt as if i came over as very harsh rolleyes if i did i didnt mean too ofcourse

Anyway feeding time at the zoo back in a while :)

no not at all it fine! i always take opinions and the like and then see how i can improve things. like the ramp for instance it needs supporting really and i need to figure out how to do that.

It did look a tad steep but piggys are amazing creatures, i have a sow that is an escape artist, I'm sure i have her on film climbing the bars of her cage and climbing out the top! Ill look for that later. I'm sure she thinks she is a hamster. She HATES other piggys with a passion!

Anywho you will need to watch the wood for rotting, i used pine shelves for my ramps and coverd them with double towel sewn onto fleece covers. You may find your piggys get lazy and just slide on their fronts down the ramps. Mine do! They are able to walk up and down but at night they get lazy lol.

Ill find some pictures. may even just start up a thread just for you :o

If you have some spare grids you may be able to bend them around the wood so you still have a hard base, but you also have a side on your ramp.

PP i am liking the suggestions. see it wasnt being harsh it was sharing thoughts! the wooden bases are lined with lino tiles with a sticky back to i can stick them straight to the wood. very usefull and great at only £9 a pack! so its only the ramp really they can get up and down it no trouble but it bows when austins on it! they do slide down! i do need a side panel really is it possible to get smaller mesh panels? i dont want to have to start cutting down the large ones as i will end up with lots of dangerous areas!

I like it. I love how you made use of that space.

I'm sure they'll love it!

er i did have a table there till yesterday when a leg gave way! before the piggies were living above the rabbit next to my kitchenette

You shouldnt need to have smaller ones really, as you can just bend it around and just tie the excessive end up on the side panels. Make sure it is secure obviously. I do love a bargin so I'm happy with the £9 tiles lol. As for your big bellied piggy lol, you could try placing a hut or some bricks underneath the ramp to hold it up, extra support wont hurt anybody. Oh ive had a great idea!

You could raise the ramp at the bottom, with a brick underneath it or perhaps a hut and then use another brick next to that near where you have their hut. (bricks help with nail trimming too ;)) Also a brick under the water bottle helps with trimming their front nails and catchs the drips :)

I'm still thinking of a way of putting a door into the bottom layer to open onto the floor for when you put the extra top layer on.

Everytime i see the foster box i chuckle lol Beer boxes make great hidys too :P

they spend more time in the fosters box than the bleeding log cabin i bought them! lol what type of bricks? air bricks? the doors easy 2 zip ties on one side and i have some tiny carabinas to clip the other side! thats how i had it before to gain access when they lived above leon. I'm a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to some stuff. I'm a model maker as well and it took me a year to get my last model to a standard i was happy with!

I'm a perfectionist too! i have far to many ideas than i have money lol. My rescue would have such big cages and such amaing things if i had the money :P I wouldnt use air bricks (the ones with holes right?) dont wanna get little piggy feet stuck or injured :( I would just use normal house bricks, flat end up, i shall get a picture ( if i remember tomorrow) Ive got rocks from the beach in some of my cage's under water bottles, and holding bowls in place.

red house bricks it is then! my dream would be to have a big garage! one helf would be for my classic mini. a mini bar and a pool table in the other half. in the house itself i want a nice big spare room to turn into a guinea pig heaven with lots of hideys!

That's totally custom made for the space! Well done!

I'm thinking that if you put sides to the ramp it would stabilise it so it would not sag, wouldn't it?
