Hi ppl i cant get the urine stains out of these terry toweling protectors i use these under my vetbed does anyone have any tips for me please iv tryed vanish it not working

I have never had vanish plus washing at 60 degrees or 90 degrees if stains are really stubbon fail to work for stains on bed protectors or washable nappies (I have small children) however...... if the protector is under your vet bed and therefore not visible, and is clean, but stained, does it actually matter?

Or do I just have very low housekeeping standards?!

Ooh I've never tried vanish on our washable nappies in the end (after not very much worrying to be honest!) I've just decided as long as they were clean and the wrap looked nice, the stains never got seen on the nappies.

:btt: Anyway my tip (also from the land of washable nappies) would be to leave to dry in strong sunlight. Keep them damp (re-wet them) for as long as you can whilst in the sun as this helps the sun get more stain out.

I do agree though - if not in view, then I'd be inclined not to worry as long as they are clean.

Yep, I always found that a washable nappy would go white again if hung on the line in the sun :)

But I must admit to my slovenly solution that I eventually resulted to - I dyed all the white nappies with dylon machine dye a nice navy colour! That way no stains could be seen. And honestly, if its been washed at that temperature its got to be clean, right?

But maybe you could try dyeing with dylon machine wash if it bothers you?

@Bekki may have some ideas :)

I use terry towelling mattress protectors under my vet bed. I have used ordinary laundry detergent + Napisan every time I wash them & no stains. Perhaps the stains won't come out because you only tried the Vanish after the stains were well set? Have you tried bleach? As others have said though it goes under the vetbed & won't be seen. I doubt that the presence of a stain indicates there are any germs. I find white towelling eventually discolours anyway & I replace my mattress protectors once a year.

Asda oxy pre wash treatment spray gets anything out even dried blood/dog poorly bum all over our bed out of white fabric! Or good old fashioned household soap (not normal hand soap its specifically called household soap) a good brand for stain removal is "buncha farmers" its american and sold on websites that sell cloth nappies and cloth sanitary pads so it must work right? Sunning is my fav treatment mind as it doesnt shorten the life of the fabric. Hang wet stuff outside in teh sun, keep wetting as they dry and boom no stains often :-) Very hot washes can often "set" stains and make them harder to get out also.

Oh yes, Fairy Household Soap (the old fashioned large green bar) works well, I had forgotten about that.

I knew @Bekki would have some ideas ;)

Heehee thanks :D I use wilkinsons own branded bar and it works wonders without damaging fragile fabrics :D

I wash my terry toweling protectors on a 40 wash as that what it states on the label I'm frightened to do them on a 60 cause of the plastic melting
