Hi
Usually my girls have fleece cage liner but in a week I'm taking them to stay with my parents while I'm away with work. They will be there for a week. When I had my boys I used shavings with newspaper and they got cleaned out every 3-4 days, no poo picking.
Obviously with fleece I sweep up poops in the morning and night. My parents are good with piggies but seem not keen about fleece and sweeping up the poops. I'm thinking of switching my girls to shavings with newspaper while they're with my parents and back to fleece when they come home.
Has anyone done this before and were your piggies ok?

I regularly chop and change get between conventional bedding and fleece - with no ill effects to my piggies.

When I use bedding, I like to spot clean at least one a day BUT I think your piggies will be OK for a week if you parents don't do this - as long as there is enough bedding to wick away the wet patches.


PS - do your parents know how much poop piggies produce ?

Yep they do after my last 2 and their compost heap loves piggie bedding too. They change every 3-4 days so they are very good about it. I have them well trained. They also give the piggies extra greens as my mum loves hearing them week for greens. They get spoiled by my parents.
