hi, i have a 3 almost 4 year old guinea pig. he’s just now recovering from being sick and I'm trying to help him eat again. i was wondering, do you think his teeth are too long? his bottom teeth are in front of his top, do you think that’s the problem? should i take him to the vet to get checked?

They certainly look very long indeed - he definetly needs to see an expreinced guinea pig vet to have them propely checked.

Are you also weighing him daily at the same time to keep an eye on his weight?

yes, but it isn’t changing much. i’ve been feeding him critical care, probiotics and papaya. ill see if i can check in with the vet today

He definitely does need to see a vet.
Its good his weight is stable but it may simply be because of your support feeding

Dont overfeed papaya. Piggies don’t need fruit in their diet at all

update— i took my guinea pig to the vet, and we were right, his teeth were very overgrown. he had severe dental issues— i also had realized the scale i used was broken, it showed the wrong weight, which led to me thinking that his weight was stable. he had lost quite a bit of weight within the last time he saw the vets (a month ago). all his teeth were overgrown and that caused all the other problems like a respiratory infection and gi stasis, but luckily he stayed the night and is coming home today.

Well done - your vet sounds very experienced and it is fantastic that Corey is getting the treatment that he needs.

Your vet certainly sounds very competent. I hope that with treatment he can get back to eating for himself.
