Wasn't sure if someone could help me My male guinea pig has been grinding his teeth a lot is there any way I can find out if he's having teeth problems without going to the vet right away I checked his front teeth and they looked perfectly fine but I feel when I put my two hands on each side of his jaw he's grinding his teeth constantly so I was just wondering if that's normal or if there could be something wrong he's not pawing at his face or anything his face ain't swelled up like he has an infection he's eating he's eating his fruits and vegetables I just want to make sure because tooth pain is no joke

Hiya, piggies grind sometimes when being handled, may feel scared or not want to be held

Piggies do grind their teeth for benign reasons but only a vet can tell you if there is a medical issue going on.

Hay is the largest part of the diet, so eating veg (fruit should not really be included in the diet in any event) is not really the deciding factor as to whether there is an eating issue - hay is often the first food group to be dropped if there is a medical problem. To be sure he is eating enough hay, you should switch from the routine weekly weight checks and instead weigh daily from to be sure his weight is stable (reduction in hay intake will result in weight loss very quickly).

He loves to be held when he wants to get down he just jumps out of my arms onto the bed he's never scared he always jumps in my arms and he just sits with me I just want to make sure he's not in pain cuz I heard that they're inside back teeth can over grow and I can't see them
