hi I have six boars in three pairs and they all eat the same diet. Two of my boars keep loosing their teeth. Sometimes the top sometimes the bottom. They live in a good size pen indoors with a metal cage wall devide separating them from the other two piggies. It use to be a wooden devide but we changed it when we lost a piggie so the piggie on his own had some company. Ever since this happened we have had problems with their teeth. We put the wooden wall back for a while but that still didn't make a difference so we replaced it again so all Piggies could see each other. They are not loosing weight as we closely monitor this. Any advice. Thank you.

Thank you. Yes we think they do chew the bars but they were still loosing their teeth when we put the wooden devide back.

Do I have to contact the dental expect or wait for her to read my post? Thank you.

She has been tagged in the post and when she next logs on, hopefully she will see it. However, it would probably be a good idea to have a vet check your piggies over as this is consistently happening

Teeth shouldn’t break that easily, even if they bar chew. I wonder if infection has got into the pulp cavity causing the teeth to become weak. I do think that the fact they can see one another is probably causing the bar biting and maybe, at some point, a tooth has fractured, allowing infection to enter. I would advise a vet check,

Thank you I shall make an appointment.

Thank you everyone for your help. The vet has been great and we now only have one piggy with teeth problems. She trimmed the top sets and filed the bottom sets

Thank you everyone for your help. We took our piggies to the vets. Their tops set had grown too long because there was no correct alignment with the bottom sets. She trimmed the top ones and filed the bottom ones which were very short. One Piggy now has a good set. The other piggy had lost another tooth. So we have one sorted but we hope that Merry gets a good set back again soon. Have a follow up appointment booked. We have changed the wall across their pens to make it more tooth friendly.
