Hi ^.^

This morning my piggy Simon was on my duvet (he woke me up XD). He was totally chilled - gave me a kiss as usual, had a good stretch and a yawn then settled down as his eyes began to close. Then, he began the teeth 'clacking'! It was a repetitive sound, interspersed with tiny, quiet squeaks.

He's only done this once before, when he was on my lap dozing. It's DEFINITELY not a grinding sound.

I've heard it is an angry/warning sound, but he didn't seem angry at all to me. He was acting the opposite! I can hear him breathing very quietly, if I listen closely, and it's clear as a bell.

What could he be trying to say? Thanks for your help!

It sounds like he is actually rather relaxed indeed!

If you are worried, have his back teeth checked to make sure that they are evenly ground down.

Thanks for your reply ^.^ I think I might get his teeth checked as you say, just in case :3 He's great with eating his food, doesn't dribble or drop any but I can't think of why else he'd make that sound XD Unless he's just a funny 'lil pig I guess!

he may just be a funny little guinea pig... ;)

Mine does this when hes enjoying himself, my rabbit used to do this too. Especially when having a cuddle :)

oops, i clicked on the link about guinea pig noises, because i have been trying to situate/understand the noise my piggies, especially one makes, similar to simon 'n joe: not sure if he was happy, angry, worried ... (he would also do it and have a funny little slow shuffle walk (sometimes followed by a pop)) and it sounds like purring -which while playing the clip woke up our dachshund who has been intrigued by them: where are they ?!?! :D
