the other day, and this hasnt only happened once, about one-three times. i was feeding gilbert. i was getting the bag and it rustled and gilbert jumped about popcorning and squeaking in glee. then he went up to the cage door and i was still getting it ready. HE TEETH CHATTERED. I'm sure it was! it was like rubbing the teeth together. i thought that was for agression. why is he doing that?

also this morning gilbert was eating with his head tilted and walking around with his head tilted. any ideas why? I'm worried hes not feeling well. but luckily this afternoon he wasnt doing it anymore

thanks, amelia

A head tilt isn't normal!

It could be casued by many things, but is best not ignored. Could be an eye issue, signs of an ear infection, or something else entirely. It could have just been "one of those things", but keep a very close eye on him and if it returns or he has other issues, get him to a (guinea knowledgeable) vet asap. If, for example, it's the start of an ear problem, the sooner it can be jumped on the better!

I agree with Stinklepig.
You should get him checked asap! He may have an ear infection or something wrong with him in general! As for the teeth chatter, yes they do this when they are mad at something or someone, but they also do this at times to show that they are hungry (so I've heard somewhere) but I'd just back off a bit, maybe hes telling you that there really is something wrong and that perphaps hes in pain?

The head tilt is not normal but don't worry about the teeth clacking...my Alf does this when I go to feed him. However, it's more of a gentle sound...some do it when they can smell something nice.
