I have a 2 story hutch for my 2 pigs but only one will use the ramp? Both will go up it but only one down again. We have already adapted it to a more tunnel shape to try and help, temped her with food and her sister being at the bottom. We have literally tried everything but she is still terrified. Does anyone have any suggestions about how to help her go down.

I had a ramp and they wouldn't go up it for the few weeks they had the new cage! :P I think the best you can do is wait it off and I'm pretty sure the other piggie will learn from the other. That's what mine did, anyway.

Is it possible to make the ramp longer and shallower?

Some piggies can go up and down ramps no problem. Others struggle. Took the youngest in my herd a few days to figure it out with help from the others.

I have glued some carpet tile cut to the shape of the ramp to give them extra grip.

You could try stapling some sandpaper onto the ramp. The vet suggested that to me but I didn't need to do it. It gives them extra grip and also files their nails down each time they use it. For the first time today Christian had problems at the bottom of the ramp and couldn't get up it so I may have to use that sandpaper after all or get a couple of fleece ramp tunnels.

That is what i hoped but i have had my piggies for 2 years and she still hasn't learnt.

@Tim offered to do a modification like that on the ramp in my new hutch as I thought the ramp was too steep but my piggies got the hang of it in no time!

Sorry I've been off line, yep that's the modification that @Tim did for my furry lot and to be honest, they love it. When I've separated them off for cleaning, they get really tardy with me, and then go bonkers when I put it back in.
