As the tittle says, what's the best way of securing tarpaulin to shed floor?
My 2 piggies are outdoors in a secure draft proof shed with nice warm hutch and lots of hidey places to play in. I would like to start leaving the hutch door open all the time (usually shut them in hutch at night) so that they can come and go as they please. I have been looking into putting Lino on the shed floor with hay on top covering all the floor, but realised I have a huge waterproof tarpaulin that's never been used, so I am wondering if anyone else uses tarpaulin on the floor and how you have secured it down safely? Ideally I would like it to go up the walls abit too so that the pee doesn't rot the edges of the shed floor! It will make it so much easier to keep clean as I can wipe it down when I clean out and the floor won't get rotten from the peeing on it! Any help appreciated as want to get it sorted this weekend and all cosied up with hay for this cold weather! Thanks :)

Hi, you could send it up the wall a bit and nail it near the top of the edge with wooden batons or dole :)
I brought stick on lino tiles from the pound shop to use in my hutches they were soo easy to put down and cheap too worth knowing if this does not work out for you.
Kell.

Thanks for the replies. I have the Lino tiles mycuteboys in there hutch and yes they are great! I was just thinking something without any joint in might be better so that no wet can get through at all.
Cookie16 the Velcro is a good one I hadn't thought of, as long as it sticks to the wood ok?!
....and thanks for the welcome mycuteboys, first thread on here, but I love reading on this forum, so much helpful info :))

What about laying it flat so it covers the floor and then screwing thin wooden batten down over the top of it all the way around the outer edge of the floor to secure it.

Alternatively if you want a temporary solution you could just use something heavy like bricks to weigh it down around the edges. That way you can lift it up easily.

Thanks daves-cavy another couple of good suggestions. Think I'm going to have to get them in there hutch and get there shed all cleared and see what option is going to work best for us now that I have different options for securing it.

Sorry mycuteboys just noticed your reply. They are called Wibbly and Peppa (after Peppa pig and Wibbly pig!) as they are actually my daughters pigs! But as she is only 2 I obviously take care of them and she helps with things she can! I love guineas having had them myself as childhood pets, so I am hoping as my daughter gets older she will grow to love them as much as I do and it will get her some sense of responsibility as she grows up. I will get some pics once we have the shed floor sorted! Probably be the weekend :))

So I'm just defrosting after spending the last hour out in the cold sorting the shed out! Haven't got very good pics but this is what I did with it! (No piggy pics as they are in hiding still due to me banging about and moving things!)image.webpI decided to just use the tarpaulin in front of the hutch (as I blocked under hutch off due to them being difficult to catch!) and most the way upto the door (there's a mat in the doorway so when I go in with damp shoes I don't wet everywhere) I haven't secured it with anything as having things dotted about holds it in place anyway. I have put hay on top in an area for them to play in and eat and there's also a litter tray in the hay with newspaper, shavings and hay in where they normally pee! I need to get there stuff organised in the shelves when I've warmed up abit! image.webpThis is looking back towards the door, my dad's in the process if making me a mesh top door so I can cut the shed door in half and have half open during the day. At the moment it's just a board and mesh netting secured over top during the day to stop the cats getting in!
Hope the piggies like it, at least the floor won't get rotten now! :)
