after months of arguing it out with my self i have finally ordered some c&c grids and correx...
and some fleecey goodies from pollie... :))
ive got 32 grids comming i think...
ive been looking through the sticky c&c thread but would love some ideas... I'm hoping to do an L shape with a hay loft.....
so if any one has a similar set up could you show me them please... :))
and how did you make the hay loft stable...?
i was thinking of maybe using the base of an old cage as the floor of the hay loft... but I'm not sure... also how did you do the ramps...?
thanks in advanced... :))

You will love it :) I can't believe I didn't try to get mine sooner!

With supporting the loft you could put wooden batons or plastic plumping pieces through the top squares of the cubes underneath...if you get what I mean :S

here we are found a picture :) you see the wooden pole running underneath the layers? That's what i mean :D

I'm rather excited to do it now... i picked the correx up earlier on today... just got to wait for the grids... i might even be inclined to try fleece again...:))

Ooooo :) it's very exciting. The thing I like most is how it is an open top. Makes it feel less enclosed and less like a 'cage' :)

This was the layout we used whilst my OH built the pen for the piggies:

Wow, that brings back memories of the days when we had just the four boys rolleyes

We didn't build a second level as this was only a temporary pen for around three weeks. Two of the older boys had a grid veggie rack where OH just attached a grid half way up another grid and secured with tie wraps, they loved jumping up onto it. The other two boys were only teenies at six weeks old so didn't need one.
You would need reinforcements for another level, wooden stair spindles would be a good option, cut to size and easy on the pocket. We used them in our current set up to take the weight of the upper levels, look really effective and just kind of blend in :)

oh i do love your set up...!....:))
spindles are a great idea... will be very cheap on the pocket as my dad is a joiner whom makes stairs... :))

love the idea of the veggie platform...!
brilliant ideas... :))

where is the cheapest place to get the grids from? everywhere i look they seem quite pricey

Think we only paid around £2 each from Homebase or Wickes but if your dad can get them, even better :(|) If he's anything like my OH, he loves designing stuff and will spend hours shaping bits of wood into something that looks great rolleyes

Lol... :))

He turns the spindles himself so I'm sure I can blag them for free... :))
Oh hes so like you oh... My dad whom 'hates' piggies and bunnies...
Built my shed... Does this look like someone who doesn't like them... Haha...
I constantly catch him talking to the pigs in the shed... :))

Seriously... He doesn't like the animals... ;)

Hehe, that picture is of Flinstones (Joanne) set up! :))

I too also have a feeling those grids are the smaller plastic ones, but members have been able to use them to make cages, you just need a few more!

I have a feeling those are the smaller plastic type grids, hope I'm wrong though! rolleyes

oh god... dont tell me that...!
ah well might be a little bit more of a delay then eh...!
ah well... we'll soon find out... :))

Is it possible to email them to find out before they're dispatched?

If you can get to Tamworth (or if someone can go for you) JTF do silver or pink storage cube grids for around £10

Unit 1 Ninian Point, Ninian Way, Wilnecote, (just down from the Co-Op Superstore), Tamworth

No probs, you have to join to become a "member" it asks for a business address etc on the form & some ID, print off the membership form off their website

http://www.jtfmegadiscountwarehouse.co.uk/join-free.php

I don't have a business but I just filled in my home address. You may need to get them to check the top shelves for the grids, usually the pink ones are easy to find but the silver ones were right at the top in my nearest store rolleyes

They're called "Homemaker Lifestyle mesh storage cubes"

HTH :)
