Hey,
As I live with my Dad I cant really keep filling the Fridge/Freezer up with veg for the piggies. I've been looking at tabletop fridges (usually used in caravans or for camping) to be used in my rat/guinea pig room purely for the veg.
Does anyone else use one of these? Would a second hand one off ebay be suitable? The cheapest I can find brand new is £95 on Argos!

Ah you recommend it then? Is it big enough to store 3 piggies veggies for approximately 4days (2 feedings a day)?

i dont use mine for piggie food, it's just an extra one i have, the ice box does take up a silly amount of room but i'm sure it would be big enough for the food yes, although any food leaning on the freezer compartment will get freezer burn, i got mine a bit cheaper than that on the net, but i can't remember where from, the only thing with these fridges is that you can buy a normal sized fridge for only a little bit more. so if you had room i'd go for a normal sized one.then you can use it for other things too. Ebay might be a good idea.

Definitely dont have the room for a big 1, the animal room is a tiny box room and is already full to the brim (massive GP cage, massive rat avairy, another rat cage, chest of drawers and 2x storage drawer units) so only have room for a mini 1 which will either go on top of the chest of drawers or under the nero 4.

well i do think it is big enough, i also have a caravan fridge out in the utility room and that is way smaller than the one in argos.
Surf the net to see if you can get it cheaper.

Thanks. Cant find it much cheaper. But as I've got an Argos card I'd be better off buying it from there and paying it off in installments.
Whats freezer burn then?

well i sometimes have coke or lemonade bottles laying on the shelf, and if i put a pack of spinich or lettuce on top and it's next to the freezer compartment it spoils the leaves they get all soggy and wet, like when they are going off, can happen to cucumber too goes mushy. so as long as your fruit/veg doesn't touch that compartment you should be fine.
have you measured it to make sure it fits? Oh and the lower compartment isn't all that deep, it looks deeper in the photo than it actually is. i will go and measure it's depth

okay you might be surprised as the lower compartment is not deep at all, it only measures from front to back 8 inches,(i think the motor sits behind this at the back) but the door closes quite far in so you only get 5 inches of storage, the upper shelf is 11 inches front to back.

Wow thank you you've been brilliant doing all this research for me!
The only thing about using that other site is its all still quite expensive (as in £50+) and I'd have to pay all at once. Whereas if I did get the Argos 1, even though its expensive, at least I can use my card.
Bit worrying how small the compartments are actually...though I'm sure anything will be bigger than my current little drawer inside the main fridge.

All pick up only or they're from shops and they cost more than the Argos one!

Would one of the can fridges not do the same job?
You can buy them for the kids for their bedrooms about £30 they hold 12 cans of soft drinks, would that be big enough ?

No unfortunately things like that can only be left on for 12hours at a time maximum which is no good as I need one for 24/7.
I have a Dr Who TARDIS one in my room as I though I'd be able to keep my cans up here all day everyday (I drink 4 cans of coke a day) but I havent even used it yet due to it only being able to be left on 12 hours a day! I'll use that in the summer though.

They just came to mind when i was reading this :) hope you get what your looking for :)

Yeah, they wold be more useful if they could be left on 24/7 but I think they're more meant for picnics or car journeys or something.
