Hello,

I wonder if anyone has any ideas.

I have a 2x5 C&C which is on the floor at the moment, I would like to raise it off the ground but I seem to be having problems finding a table that's the right size, I have looked in to building something for the the cage but the problem is the delivery charge is way over the top and the other place I looked at don't do deliveries for the items I want.

Any ideas would be welcome :) I know you can build more grids onto it but I think these are Safco grids and people seem to be selling them for more than they are really worth. Plus I was hoping for something that we could put our dog's bed underneath.

Thanks in advance

I agree buying extra grids as a stand is quite a price on top of that. Have you looked at ikea? Maybe you could buy two tables.

I got a wooden wallpaperimg table £10 . All you have to do is make it a bit longer which is easy to do. And I put some wooden battens around edges so c&c cant move

I agree with the wooden pasting table, just add more support in the middle and lengthen with strong board :)

image.webp I have my 6x2 c&c on a 6ft banqueting table (similar to one pictured) and it overhangs slightly either end of the table but it's fine as I have used grids on the bottom of my c&c. This is my cage when it was a 5x2 on 6ft banqueting table.

It does have a base on the c&c cage I think if you never had a base of grids it wouldn't work. As c&c woudnt sit on table. If you know what I mean. Mine isn't attached to table though bit it seems stable enough and it's against the walls (we don't have any kids pulling at it etc) if you wanted to secure it to the table I suppose you could drill through table at few points and cable tie your base onto the table. Table is very sturdy (quite thick moulded plastic) I was surprised how good it is considering the price.

Good idea :) I don't have a base on the little boys, I bought it from a company on ebay so it just came with the outside grids, cable ties and connectors :/

Hmmm. Could you get a piece of board and put it on top of the table and sit the cage on that? Or wire mesh and attached to bottom of cage? It would be a lot more sturdy than a pasting table.

I was wanting to get some mdf or something like that but there is nowhere near us that I know of where we can go and get some, sadly non of us drive. It's ok I'll think of something :) thanks for trying to help.

Aww. Even ply wood would do. Or you may only need a few batons of wood to put along every so often on bottom of cage. It's just to stop the top/grids from falling down.

What size are your grids? We made our boys cage using these grids and managed to make a base (35cmx35cm). We connected them using zip ties as the connectors were too bulky to use on the base. Maybe that might be an option? It may not be as sturdy as using wood, but if your getting a table, it might be okay.

We pop the cage on two ikea lack coffee tables so it is kinda eye level when we're sitting by the sofa and when we kneel down. The cage sticks out length and width wise but it's not been a problem. Have you checked gumtree for tables that might be suitable? We had these ikea ones to spare hence we used them.

the cage is 2x5 C&C :/ Not sure of the size to be honest. No, they always want you to pick up don't they? It's ok... we will get something sorted eventually! Hopefully before we start decorating and putting carpet down lol.

I don't like them on the floor because of the dog shaking and fur flying.

Goodluck with it all, I hope you'll figure something out! :tu: Our piggies prefer being off the floor as our footsteps on the wooden floor scared them! We keep them in the lounge/kitchen area due to lack of room elsewhere! :)

My partner and I have been to the ikea here four times to furnish our apartment and caught two buses, making the 40-50min trip one way. He just brought along a huge backpack and we packed all our big, blue ikea bags. We brought home a kitchen table, chairs and a huge coffee table. With a little persistence, it's no problem too difficult to fix. We don't have a car as of yet as we'll only recently arrived into Edinburgh from Sweden. Thinking of it now, we should've ordered off their website for delivery but we had lots of small stuff to buy as well. If the distance isn't too great for pick up off Gumtree, it might be worth it. I travelled 30mins by bus (one way) to pick up a 120 cage and walked the 25mins home from city centre. This all made me realise my reliance of having a car - ohhh the luxuries I miss sooooooooooooo mucho! :dri::bye:

I'm gutted we're not in the same city as I would gladly send the mister to do his 'boyfriend duties' hehe not too much muscles on him but he copes just fine.. or hides the struggle really well! :tu:
