Hiya Guys,

I need a table to put my 6 x 2 cube piggy cage on. Just wondered if any one had found a table that was a good fit? I've found it really difficult.

I want it to be around 1m high x 2 1/2 metres long and obviously to fit 2 cubes in width. I've found wallpaper pasting tables which are roughly the right size but they look a little flimsy. I thought about making a base from cubes but it would have to be 3 cubes high and I'm worried it won't be sturdy enough.

I'd love to here what other people have done.

Hannah :)

You could build your own hun, just go to somewhere like FWB or if you don't feel capable you could ask a sawmills or shed builder to make you one.

My hubby made ours out of some left over extruded metal he had handy.

You could make one? If you have someone who is handy, its really easy. Just buy a piece of wood long enough and wide enough for the cage and then add legs like a table. It may be cheaper than buying a large table? :)

Hi Hannah, welcome to the forum!

I have a few 2x5 cages and they are big, so finding a good sized table for a 2x6 is going to be tricky. Well, short of buying a long dining table, anyway!

I agree with the above posters - is it possible for someone to build a purpose-built table for you?

I was afraid you might suggest that! I'm rubbish with woodwork and my partner is even worse! I've never heard of FWB - is that a shop? Do B&Q have wood? I know you can get lino cut to measure etc.

Thanks guys! :)

FWB is a hardware supplier that's local here, B&Q would be fine to buy the wood from but then you have to make it. To be honest I'd find yourself someone local who either is a handy man or makes sheds etc and ask them to run you something up.

I think I'll have to do that - thanks for your help. Shame there isn't a perfect table in Ikea for £20!

Try the bargain basement at Ikea for a cheap table.

DIY:
Chipboard, at 2400x600mm, is about £6 per sheet.
Cheap door, about £20, would make a good work top.
More expensive, a kitchen work top, easy to keep clean. You could support it on kitchen base units.
Various DIY places sell table legs, I don't know if they would carry that amount of weight.
Metal shelf units could be adapted as a base unit.
Better still, buy some metal trestles as supports. Machine Mart is the place to look for those.

Can you tell I build my own units!?

Nice to see you outside H&I, AP. We knew you had a lot more useful info and experiences to share!

Even more but you are too young!!
Nothing like experience.
Feel free to talk about me, I am out now for a couple of hours.

I my CC cage is on a table.
Made it myself with chipboard flooring (extra cheap) and some bed legs that i had randomly in the garage. think whole thing cost about £10 bargin and fits my cage size exactly :P
