Recently, I've bought tea bags off cuts as a replacement of Megazorb (actually, I wanted to try it out) and I have to say it: it's good but... It remind me of fleece (it's very soft), but without washing. Not as absorbing as MZ, but still better than shavings. No funny smells and NO DUST. At last. Megazorb can be very dusty, especially when swiping cage.

Next try: MZ under and T-Bags on top. Megazorb can make my piggies sneeze all the time, so I'll try to cover something what is very absorbing with something what's is not dusty and slightly less absorbing but softy softy... Let's see how that combination will work (or not ;-)

I'm interested too, where did you get the teabag off cuts from?

snap like the above posts... ive been looking for this for a little while and havent found anywhere that sells it...

Hello All,

http://www.thepetfoodco.co.uk/store_main.asp?int_product_id=336

Delivery is a bit expensive, but if you will take 4 bags (and they are huge) you will pay only £14.95. Bear in mind, they are heavy, around 20-25kg each.
After using it for a few days, I have to say that is really easy to replace soiled parts: just put your hand in there and grab it, it will come as one piece. Brrrrrilliant. ;-) Size wise is WxHxD - 50x80x30 very compressed.

Piggies are very happy, no one sneeze in ** house ;-) and they are jumping all over the place, even Lolek (the white/red one) with inner ear infection and Baytril in him.

It's true, that you need to replace bits and bobs daily, but it's easy job now.

They really love it :(|) Flat as a BABY :)) They are making us laugh all the time...

They start to stuff themselves for a first minute and after they just run around. I don't think that they will eat more than few bites. You will have the same situation if you give them paper bags or paper tunnels.

Not dusty at all. I'll try with Megazorb as a absorbing layer under it to see the difference all together. If is not much, than I'll keep just as T-Bags only for a longer trial.

As for now, the Megazorb was the best and if not the problem, that is (and can be very) dusty, it would be perfect. T-Bags are absorbing very well but holding moisture where MZ will spread out much better. Combining both, I hope to have best of both worlds: absorbency of MZ and softness of T-Bags.

Unless of course it will be too much work or not much difference combining them so I simply stay with one of them: MZ with its dust or T-Bags with its less absorbency (just do a spot clean more often, and to be honest it's not that difficulty either: 5 min job).

I hope this will help.

PS. Dustiness of MZ is similar to paper cuts in you shredder, not on the top, but soon as you move them it will fly everywhere.

An update about using T-Bags and Megazorb together:

After trying to use MZ on its own and T-Bags on its own, I have to say that the best combination is to get them together. Why? Lets me explain.

Problem with Megazorb is that is very light and dusty (yes. It is DUSTY). Especially, when you start cleaning. My piggies started to sneeze every so often (I'd say about once an hour, sometimes few times in the row), but is VERY absorbing.

So, I'd try something else called T-Bags, which is tee bag's offcuts. White, virtually no dust, quite absorbing, but not as much as Megazorb and easy to replace, just pick up soiled space and replace with new. I've found that you actually need to load something like an inch (minimum) to gave thick enough layer from the bottom to keep urine away from top and piggies.

But in the end, i have to do something like 0.5in of Megazorb at the base as a super absorbing layer and cover with an inch of T-Bags. It actually work great as we and piggies do not have direct contact with MZ but I can still use its absorbing features. Later, all I need is to roll the whole T-Bag carpet and replace patches of soiled Megazorb, then add more T-Bags and done. Whole cage 1.5x4 C&C is done in 10-15 minutes. Once a while remove EVERYTHING and do full cleaning which adds another 10 minutes. Sorted.

For me this is the best way to get me piggies happy (and they really do like to play on fresh T-Bags) and clean (and you can see any blood spots if there is a problem). I've tried all sort of pine shavings, carefresh, towels, environmental friendly (bun NOT very friendly for my pocket) ways and finally I'm happy with. I hope that this will help others to find their ways, and that Megazorb and T-Bags will be on the market for years to come.

Happy Easter!:<>

Sounds very interesting ! I've been looking at changing my bedding for a while, may just have found my solution !

It is working for me, but this is me. Just try, in worst case scenario it will be few quid lost. Before, I've tried many different things and amount money went down the drain because of care fresh... I had to do something about. CF is great but VERY expensive, dusty and if you have bigger cage that is enormous load of money. I don't fancy shavings of any kind... so not many things left to try. I paid something like £7 for a big bag of t-bags and megazorb each + £14 delivery for 3 bags total (2 t-bags, 1 megazorb).
This should be fine for me for at least 3 months if not more (cage 1.5x4)

Regards
