I have noticed that my female piggy has what appears to be swollen mammary glands. She has now developed a lump on her side which feels very like the lumps in her mammary glands. They are all soft and pliable and don't appear to be causing her any problems. Should I take her to the vets? :(

I will get her booked in to the vets a.s.a.p. - hopefully it is nothing too serious.

Hopefully this is just harmless fatty lumps which are fairly common in gps. However, any swelling under or around the mammory gland should be checked by a vet.

Glad you've got her booked in at the vets. I had a sow with this problem at the age of 2 - the vet thought it was fatty cysts or mastitus.....she had to have a double masectomy (my big brave girl :)) Luckily all the tests on the lumps came back ok - she lived to the ripe old age of 8 1/2, so glad I took her to the vets when I did.
hope she gets on ok.
Let us know how she is
