New Born Pup
Hi. I've not been on here in ages! Sorry ")
I have a strange dilemma with one of my piggies, Huey. He's around 4 years old now. Lost a fair bit of weight since he had a urinary infection over Christmas and has never quite gone back to his normal size. He was always a fairly big boy, 3lb, but now he's 2lb 4oz. The vet isn't overly concerned, his teeth are okay, he's munching on food and hay okay, and he's not showing any more infection symptoms so I'm not so worried with his weight right now.
What I am concerned about is that when I checked him over this evening I found what I can only describe as swollen mammary glands under his nipples. It doesn't seem right to me but I can't find anything about it in my books or anywhere online. All I can find is mastitis in female piggies.
I'm wondering. Could the glands be swollen like in humans, when we're unwell and our glands on our throats swell? Does it mean Huey's body is still fighting something? Surely it can't be cancer or anything because it would be highly unlikely that both glands are affected?
Any ideas appreciated!
