All the best. I was wondering about a potential surface abrasion but without a hands-on examination and the ultralight check to see the extent of any damage it is nt something you can comment.

It does however sound like just a fairly minor issue caught early so it should hopfefully heal without any major problems. . ;)
Hi, I am very sorry for replying on an older thread (I just joined today and don't know much about how forums work in general), but, may I ask, if you know, typically how long it will take for conjunctivitis to heal?

My guinea pig suddenly had a similar issue yesterday morning and it is starting to look very cloudy, with a bulge forwards, as well as inflammation to the surface of the eye, where masses of the cornea (?) are protruding out around the edge of the eye. Over the course of yesterday and today, I have applied droplets of eye wash and gel to deal with bacterial infection, as well as carefully observed for foreign particles in the eye (where I couldn't find anything).

How long do you think this condition may take to heal (if it indeed is a bacterial infection caused by hay poke)? Thank you.

Welcome to the forum

I have moved your post to its own new thread so you can receive ongoing advice and support.

Has your piggy been seen by a vet? If not, then please do have your piggy seen.
Cloudy suggests ulceration has already occurred.
Painkillers would also need to be prescribed .

We can’t comment on whether this may be conjunctivitis, hay poke or something more serious (such as an abscess behind the eye where swelling and protruding of eye may occur) and consequently cant comment in healing time.

We never recommend any attempt a home treatment for any condition but certainly not for an eye issue.
A vet will need to use fluorescent dye to check the eye injury as well as under eyelids - none of which an owner can do themselves.

Welcome to the forum, I'm sorry it's in these circumstances.
As a rule, anything eye related is considered urgent and needs to be seen by a vet as an emergency appointment. One of the reasons is that they have specialist drops and equipment to check the eye more thoroughly than we can. Eyes can be looked at and treated by any vet it doesn't need to be a specialist in exotics.
On this forum we can't legally advise any home treatments and treating on spec can mask an underlying issue. I am not one of health experts but I will tag one in case my advice is incorrect.

Thank you all for replying. Yes, we'll take him to see the vet as soon as we can tomorrow. My family members are booking him to see the vet tomorrow. Please pray to the Lord for my guinea pig Pavalotti, that he'll be safe and the vet can resolve any of the issues effectively :)

Thank you all again and may the Lord Jesus bless you all! ❤️

Hello and welcome to the forum. Sending healing vibes to Pavalotti. ❤️
