Ok so I have my 4 boys in 2 separate c&c cages, one above the other and I always worry the downstairs pair, flinn & winston are in semi darkness (they have alittle clip on light now lol) and maybe get less interaction. My reason for housing the other two, Fuzzy & Tyler above was because Fuzzy has cataracts and I thought being in a lighter environment might help? I might be wrong but that was my logic at the time lol

Now my mum and bf say oh you should switch them over now and then, make it fairer. What do * guys think? I know of course to give it a good clean and they all have their own cosys anyway but does a lighter environment impact on a piggy with cataracts? And will switching them over upset them? I'm confused lol!
Oh and the reason they're not side by side is just lack of space, there's a pic of my set up in the c&c gallery thread, I'm on my phone right now so not sure how put a pic on via my iPhone.
Sorry for the ramble but need to hear other people's opinions.

As long as the cages were disinfected and all the scent of the previous pair was removed i dont see why this would be a problem.

I wouldn't know about the cataract issue but I'd be tempted to swap them over every so often anyway. Keep the boys on their toes :)

Thanks! I was just wondering whether or not bring in a slightly darker environment would hinder my cataract piggy?

I don't swap mine over - I wouldn't want to risk upsetting them, although my bottom pair that are in the dark tend to get out a lot more especially since Fred learned how to open the door. :)).

bump. :) I'm not sure, but hopefully someone else can help.

Is there any way to raise the second leve so its higher, giving the lower level extra light? Wouldnt loose you any floor space. Just an idea. :)

yeah i'd love to I need a few more grids, i'm all out lol, that will also make it easier to get in for cleaning out, which can be a bit of a back breaking head bumping scenario lol

here's the set up:

Perhaps you could put the board up on legs? This way you wouldnt need any extra grids. Just a thought. :)

i used to swap the top ones over to the bottom of the hutch now and again and found no problem with it at all, never seemed upset at all and still popcorned around!
