Hi all!

My boys live side by side in a 2x3 c&c each after they had a falling out (they both seem happy and can interact through the bars). I want to give them more space - so I want to upgrade to a 2x4 each for them. However at the moment I only have room for a total length of 2x7.

Would it cause any issues to ‘switch’ them about in the cages, for example, one week Angus is in the 2x4 and William is in the 2x3 and on cage cleaning day, I switch them so William is in the 2x4 for the next week and Angus is in the 2x3? I know it sounds daft but it’s the only way that it could be done at the moment and didn’t know if switching cages like that would upset or confuse piggies.

Ideally I am hoping to successfully rebond them and then they can live in the 2x7. I am currently unwell but hopefully once I am better I can get started.

Thanks! :)

I think that as long as you clean the cages thoroughly then place their own bedding etc into the cage they might not notice? Just try and have the set up looking the same as their usual cages.
You said that you are trying to rebond them so what happened originally?
Would be ok to retry as long as they didn't actually have a fight and cause any injuries to each other.
Remember to try in a completely neutral area with plenty of open ended hides and extra water bottles and food bowls when you try again!
Hope you get well soon. xx

I personally wouldn't bother a 2x3 is a great size for a single piggy. Just give the more active of the pair the 2 x4 otherwise you are going to have issues getting the smells from the grids etc each time... Our pigs are so lazy that they would care a 2x3 or 2x4 if they were housed singularly.

Is it just two boars? one each side. I did 3.5 x 2 by cable tying the divider to the sides (putting the clips in - it meant that it went over the fleece and after a while I stopped caring if they got the right side of the fleece or the right bed etc. Eventually they went back in together.
