Hey guys!

As winters are already here and it's really freezing out there and even inside our homes I decided to make some sweaters for my guinea pigs which will be kind of loose and soft for their comfort. Does anyone has any ideas about it?❤

I’m afraid I don’t agree with this at all. Guinea pigs should not wear such clothes. The risk of overheating and entanglement would be ever present and potentially dangerous.
Use central heating, indoor heaters or snugglesafe heat pads, plenty of bedding and fleece hides to ensure piggies are kept warm enough. Use a room thermometer to ensure the room remains at a stable temperature.

This is not a good idea, guinea pigs shouldnt wear clothes and dressing them up would be very stressful and could easily risk dislocating a leg or them getting stuck trying to escape!
Even skinny pigs should stay as nature intended over winter, if you want to make your piggies something to keep them warm, please make them a blanket or sew them a fleecy bed or sleeping bag x

Thank you so much for informing me❤😯

Bless you. You meant well but clothing Animals with a few exceptions eg for protection or ID purposes such as police dogs is a no no in my view. Small dogs in tu tu’s make me want to 🤮. Good on you for checking with the forum. Unfortunately manufacturers try to cash in on our adoration of our pets by trying to humanise them. Bloomin unsuitable treats for piggies is a big issue with me

Hi and welcome to the forum. I'm glad you asked the question. With proper care in the winter your piggies will be warm and happy. They certainly do not need clothes and clothing is very bad for them as it restricts them and cuts too close to their prey instincts. This can make them panic and in a frantic attempt to escape can cause injury.

Please note the screenshot you posted with images has been removed. Photos of guinea pigs in clothing is against our forum terms and conditions of use which all members agree to on registering their account. The reasons above is why it is in our rules.

While I don’t really agree with the fact that it’s a “no no” it shouldn’t be done for fun, sometimes I put my dog in a rain jacket (she’s pathetic and absolutely hates the rain, bless her) or something if it’s cold....

I won't repeat what has already been advised... i saw some guinea pigs in a range of sweaters/jumpers on ETSY recently - very bad idea!
