When we got up this morning our piggy Suzy was in pain. Under vet's advice we've given her metacam and buprenorphine to hopefully help until they can see her. Soonest appointment is 2pm. We just lost Penny last week. I really hope Suzy will be ok.

BIG HUGS

Fingers very firmly crossed. It is always so much worse in the wake of another loss. 😢

Good luck at the vets. Hope she’s soon on the mend. Sending healing vibes and a hug for you 🤗

Thank you for all the kind words. Suzy is in the vet's office now. I have to wait in the car because I tested positive for COVID last week. They're going to start with some xrays and of course physical exam. Will update this thread as soon as I have some info.

Suzy is almost done at the vet. Thanks god, it just seems to be arthritis. Still a problem, but not life threatening. She has bad arthritis in both knees. That's why we sometimes see the pain worsen when she's trying to potty. That's why her feet are reddish. It's not bumblefoot, but rather her shifting her weight around because of knee pain. Unfortunately, because of her liver disease she can't be on daily metacam. Instead, we'll do metacam once every 3 days and gabapentin daily. The vet said that seeing gabapentin is more for nerve pain it might not help, but if not we can try something else. I feel bad that Suzy is in pain, but so grateful that it's not life threatening.

Just had another call from the vet. She has a small piece of hay or bedding stuck deep in her ear. Too far down for the vet to remove, but she applied some oily ear cleaner drops in hopes of helping it migrate out of her ear on its own. If no improvement with that in a week or two we can try something else, the vet said.

Good to hear that Suzy is in such good hands. Hopefully she will feel more comfy now x

I hope the meds (gabapentin in particular) will do the job and she can start feeling better soon.

Sending healing vibes to Suzy and hope her meds help her feel better very soon. My piggies send her their best wishes too.

I know human treatment is different to that of animals, but I work in an ENT unit and they use microsuction to remove wax - maybe one day something similar could be invented for animals who get various foreign bodies in their ears too.

Sending lots of hugs to you both and healing vibes to beautiful Suzy. Hope her meds kick in quickly and she feels much better soon x
