Hi,

My guinea pig has started doing some very alarming painful sounded squeaking. I did suspect she may have a UTI or bladder stones and this is confirming it to me, I wish I acted sooner on my suspicions.

Our exotics vet isn’t in office until Tuesday and it’s currently Friday night, I’m not sure what to do, how urgent is this kind of thing? I feel like very urgent! I can take her to the emergency vet but he doesn’t specialise in exotics and last time I took my sick guinea pig to him I spent Hundreds of pounds only for the pig to pass away when I get him home afterwards.

I feel sick and anxious and so sad. Please any advice or comfort would be great. She’s still eating hay, drinking water as usual.

Hello. If she’s in pain I’d get her seen quickly. As least they could give her some pain meds until the exotic vet is in. What other symptoms does she have? Good luck.

:agr:

Having pain addressed by any vet is the best thing.

I'm also wondering what symptoms are being displayed

It's really stressful isn't it. I feel so stressed by my Nancy being poorly. I'm waiting for an x-ray for her next Thursday. But she has pain meds for now. It's hard to decide on emergency vets when they aren't experts. But if she sounds in a lot of pain she probably needs to go for the painkillers.
