Hey everyone,

I had my Nibbles at the vet a couple of months ago after I found a lump on the side of one of his back legs. The vet lanced the lump and no puss came out, so a cyst or abscess was ruled out. We decided to just keep an eye on it and monitor any growth as he is getting on in age (roughly 7) I have since been checking it a couple of times a week and I hadn’t noticed any significant changes but tonight when I got him out I noticed it was bloody and I now suspect that the mass has ulcerated. I am definitely getting him to the vet tomorrow but I suppose I’m just looking to see if anyone else has had a similar experience? I know that if it has ulcerated it’s going to have to be removed but I’m just terrified of putting him through surgery because of his age ☹️ any advice or reassurance would be greatly appreciated x

I haven’t got any experience of this but I hope Nibbles gets on ok at the vets tomorrow.

Aw that does look sore 😢
Try not to think too much about it tonight, see what the vet says tomorrow.
Best of luck! ❤️🤞

Hi

I am very sorry. It is always so much more difficult. All the best for tomorrow!

PS: I had a sow of mine successfully operated when a large cyst we had already kept under supervision for two years suddenly put on a massive growth spurt and promptly burst while my got to piggy specialist vets were on summer holiday and I had an anxious 2 weeks' wait with an open cyst and cancer concerns due to the massive bleeding (thankfully the latter was caused by a fleshy inclusion). Hafren was just one month short of 7 years and lived for several months befor dying from age related issues and the cyst was well over 5 cm in diameter.

Thank you 💕 that is definitely reassuring, he is a very happy and healthy pig otherwise so I am trying to think positively!

Wee update for everyone! Nibbles had surgery this morning to remove the mass. The vet was very pleased with how it went and he is doing amazing so far with his recovery 💕 To say I’m relieved is an understatement! Thanks again for everyone’s well wishes!
