Hi All, Can anyone tell me if this maybe a suitable place to hous eour 3 pigs or is it likely to get too warm? it's in quite a shady spot of the garden doesn't get much sun (silly place previous owners put it) so has been used as part shed and part storage.. partner doesn't want a hot tub in there (boo!) but we are looking to Foster dogs and have been asked about one, we had been considering moving them from our living room anyway and wondered if we could convert this somehow. it does have a pull down side board as it was used for scalecteix previously lol and they are housed in a 6x2 c and c cage at the moment. thoughts and considerations would be great or I will be purchasing tables to lift the c and c cage high enough for safety x thanks

Pop a thermometer in and see what happens throughout the day.

My boys live in my shed (it is actually a summer house) and it gets incredibly hot inside (so much so, I have to get them out and onto the lawn before 9am during the summer)

The thermometer is a good idea, and with some adaptations it might work.

The tree and fence close by could be used to rig up some shade sails to ensure it had permanent shade in the Summer.
You could also fit two wire mesh doors or a screen behind the glass doors, meaning they could be opened but the piggies would still be protected inside.
Just make sure the doors are very robust, becasue an excited and determined dog can be a lot more clever than you think.

But the first step is really to monitor the temperature on a hot, sunny day, and see what you are dealing with.
Particularly as you won't be able to take the piggies outside onto the lawn.

If you are able to insulate it with a product such as kingspan, especially the ceiling, that will make a huge difference and is what I have done with my shed. Sheds in direct sunlight quickly become hotter inside than out.
