I built a correx base and initially used sellotape, which on cleaning the base proves not to be ideal and I can see that it will come off after a while. I ordered some duct tape, which I had thought to be stronger and waterproof, but it does not want to stick properly to the correx! Initially it sticks but a few hours later bits of it start to lift off.

Can anyone please give me a recommendation on something that will do the job?

Thanks

Ah, this was what I was initially looking for but on searching on eBay for 'weather proof tape' it came up with THIS. It may be waterproof but it does not stick well which renders its waterproof ability useless! There are no Wilkinsons near me but will find one and strip and re-tape the damn base again. Thanks

Yes it appears so! I thought Duct Tape was all one and the same. The one I have is thick, strong and very sticky when it comes to my hands but obviously not on correx! Perhaps due to the smooth surface of correx it is unable to get a proper grip. However, your average sellotape seemed to have no problems. I was preferably looking for a black one as the correx I have is black. Wilkinsons only seem to do a clear one, but it's all cosmetic and if it does the job I don't mind..I want to make another (thicker) correx base in the future as the one I have is like 2mm or something.

You'll probably find something similar at B&Q or Homebase. If you get something that for outdoor use it should stand up to piggy wee etc.

The clear tape is probably best as it's almost invisible once it's on.

I got a roll of cloth tape from Screwfix that seems to be doing a good job - it comes in black or white and is doing a rather fantastic job of holding my stubborn correx together!

The link doesn't work but I found it anyway thanks.

How does it hold up to being washed/waterproof as I always wash the correx base in the bath. I would have thought that something permeable like cloth would be a haven for bacteria?

It seems to be doing pretty well for me - I give my correx a good water scrub and disinfect once a week and it's not leaking or peeling. I think the cloth bit is like internal reinforcement to the tape, so it's totally water-tight and doesn't absorb anything :)
