hello people

iv just ordered a 3x5 cc cage for craig and dave. they are currently in a 2x4. i am thinking of getting two more pigs but havent got the space for the 2 cc cages.

do you think if i split the cc cage in half (the 5x3 one) there would be enough room for craig and dave in one compartement and 2 boys in the other or am i being mean even thinking this?

No there wouldn't be enough room, boys need minium 2 x 4.

Why did you order another cage why not just add to your existing one?

Not too mention boys can fallout!

Me again, I had an idea...

Build up, thats my old cage. Could I also recommend rescuing 2 older bonded boars, to avoid the chance of fallouts!

I would rather stack two 2x4 cages with hayloft on top of each other to accommodate two pairs of boars.

3x5 is 15 squares in total and you need at least 8 sq for each couple.

I agree with Joanne that looking for an adult pair of bonded boars is worth it. Older piggies often have wonderful personalities and so much to give - they know it when they see a good and loving home! It is a pity that they are usually overlooked for the sake of hormonal babies!

So each cage would be 2.5 X 3? That's almost enough space, but with boys the more space the better really. Although since c&c grids are a little over a foot, it might be suitable, but depends on the boys really, and the bigger it is, the less likely they'll fall out.

Can you extend your c&c instead somehow? Or put the 2X4 on top of the 3X5 or something?

thanks for all your replies. i think ill scrap that idea lol wasnt a good one was it.

i dont mean a full new cage i just mean iv ordered a bigger sheet of correx so they will have a bigger cage. will still have the 2x4 i guess i could of added to that but I'm not very good at diy :(

I'm thinking of allsorts now, i guess i could go upwards i wouldnt be able to catch the ones underneath though probably. i wouldnt put them all together i know they fight haha infact its probably daft of me getting two more because craig and david dont really like each other as it is.

the idea occurred to me because they have been really happy at the pig hotel and have enjoyed seeing other pigs and now they being grumpy pants again i dont think they are so keen on eachother hahaha xx

You can still go upwards and construct one cage on top of each other; it is not that difficult to build, actually, if you use grids.

Have a look at flinstones' or Laura-CCC4 cages.

If they stop getting on, then you could always get them both neutered and pair them with girls instead! :)
