Can someone suggest some decently priced guinea pig housing for indoors?

My cage is a large cage and it has a small upper level, about one foot in width, and then a smaller larger part at the top (I will try to find a photography online) but my boys have gotten quite big and both up there rushing for food I was putting in, caused Gilbert to fall off as Ludwig tried to get pass him. It worried me a lot.

Now I really want a bigger cage, hopefully a two leveled one as I can't get one thats any bigger in size itself.

Sadly I can't buy/make a C&C.
I live in my parents house and my dad would go crazy having anything bigger taking up space in the room. (they are in the living room) Which is why I need one that goes up rather than out.

Here are photos

The guinea pig eating in the last pic is the one who fell from it.

If your guinea already fell from a ramp, I wouldn't suggest going higher at all unless you make the ramps much safer and less steep. A lot, or rather nearly all, shop bought cages have ramps entirely unsuitable for guineas.

I would tell your parents they either let you have a bigger home, or they will end up with two cages taking up space, a boars can fall out if they don't have enough room.

Can they not be in another room?

Pigs generally don't do well with ramps, but they can get the hang of it but you would need to either build a banister or carpet them. I have these ramps and I have put vetbed over them for more grip. Ideally it does need to be bigger length ways so they can popcorn about easily though.

As already said, could you not ask your parents to put them in another room?

Sadly this is the biggest room we have so that is not doable.

Its not the ramp he fell off. They are quite skilled with them, one of them makes it a game to run up and down it. Its the level itself thats what Gilbert fell off. They were both on it together and Ludwig pushed past causing Gil to fall.

That was why I wanted another level cage, one that is a full second floor instead of just a small little piece of floor.

I've seen them with many floors

Like that, but I'd like just two floors.

That's a C&C cage. You can build one yourself.

Oh really? I thought C and C was those wire panel things people make on the floor.

Thank you for the link :) I'll ask my dad if he will allow one of them.

C&C can have multiple levels. The one you posted is constructed with wire cubes. For multiple level cage, you'll need lots of cable ties.

My dad is handy and my brother too. I could ask him if dad wont.

Just a quick question, how easy is it to clean them out?

Well, to tell you the truth, I like one level open cage with a hay loft a lot more than multiple levels. With multiple levels, you'd need to open the door and reach in. Since I use fleece, it's hard to reach into the lower level and sweep.

This one was my favorite cage. I change my cage a lot, even when I already have a perfect cage. But this one was so easy to clean. The hay stays in the loft. It's also got lots of storage underneath.

If you build the cage with the lower tray be able to slide out, that might be easier to clean. I think the ebay store I posted do that with their cages. The front row of the door open all the way down and you can slide the tray out.

That looks alot like a C+C cage to me.

That looks interesting to me.

I asked dad if he could make it, he said he couldn't.

I will ask my brother though.

I didn't actually know what C and C was, I had thought it was something it wasn't.

I'm really not sure how to go about building that with the slip out tray though.

How big do you want your cage to be? I can write step by step instructions for you. The 2 level ebay cage in the picture is 28 inches by 42 inches (71 cm by 106 cm). It's better if you can go bigger. I don't recommend anything smaller than that for 2 pigs.

My current cage is about 37 inches length

22 inches height

and about 22 inches the other way if I measured it right.

I would hope that is big enough for two as that was what the petshop told me.

Ideally I'd like the same measurement, but with another layer instead of just a small 9 inch top layer for them. 9 x 22.

Ohh! You built it on top of the existing cage!
That's a fantastic idea. I had thought I would have to sell my old cage. I definitely think I will ask my brother if he could do this for me.

Where can I buy the C&C from shops?

YOO CAN DO IT WHEN YOU B & Q IT!

:D

I had a door thing on the top of my cage, which I just pulled off, bent a CC grid into a half pipe shape and heyho a ramp.

I bought a couple of cheapy door mats from wilkos (for like £1) to use as the floor, and the offcuts I used to cover the ramps. Hundreds of cable ties were used! lol!

I can take some close up pictures and explain in more detail how I made it if you want?

AND... I had left over grids to make a run in the garden, which is easily broken and down and stored out of the way when not in use! :D

I think over all, it cost about £25 to make.

That's fantastic and would be oh so much help.

Thank you so much. I really appreciate it. I'm glad it won't cost me an arm and a leg, too :)

I had seen this video on youtube, and she had a C&C cage for her four guinea pigs but she had two levels so you could make a small C&C cage but with more levels. She used corrugated correx/coroplast/corotherm for the sides so the guinea pigs couldn't fall off. Maybe try that.

I am getting round to explaining how I made it, got some pictures to up load. trying to write clear instructions, its harder than I thought! lol I waffle so much!
