Sudden death in guinea pig

Hi all,

My girlfriend’s guinea pig, Jackson, very suddenly passed away today at the age of 2. Hugo and Jackson were fed this morning and both seemed fine. My girlfriend went out and when she got back, Jackson was unconscious and his body was very cold. He died not long after. This is all very sudden as he was still a young pig. Can anyone give any possible reason as to what may have been wrong with him and why his body temperature dropped so quickly? It’s 23°C right now so it’s got nothing to do with the outside temperature.

It’s normal to try to find a reason but sadly sudden losses can occur for many reasons and at any age (heart attack, stroke etc) so we could not tell you what happened.
