I’ve had my guineapigs 2 ½ years and they are very tame and friendly. They have always been quite jealous of each other around me and meg always tends to push floss away so she can be closer to me. Over the last month or so Megs become very antisocial, when I get her out within 10 minutes shes on my shoulder nudging me to say she wants to go back to the cage and can’t sit still. If I put her on the floor she takes herself back to her cage.

They have a huge cage as its meant for 2 large rabbits but they don’t get outdoors much at the moment so I’m wondering if she’s bored but then I’d have thought me getting her out to run and cuddle would make her happier?

I don’t know why she would suddenly be acting like this, anyone have any ideas?

@lucenut Welcome to the forum. We have had this happen with a few of our piggies over the years. An example is Cookie, she is out tamest piggie and she is well bonded to us. However she has decided that she doesn't enjoy laptime as much as she once did... 2 mins and she will climb off us and head right towards the cage. I accept that this is where she would rather be and most of our interaction and fuss in done in the cage now with her. If I want a longer lap/cuddle time I know it will have to involve some food or a duvet for her to lie on and she loves her comfort so it makes her stay a little longer.

I would imagine it is just one of those things... MAybe worth trying a cosy on your lap she if that tempts Meg to stay a little longer.

Be lovely to see some photos of your piggies

Hi @sport_billy thanks so much for the reply. I suppose if that's where she would rather be then i'll just have to let her. It's just a little frustrating as she used to be so cuddly. I have so many photos it was hard to choose so heres a few. Meg is the ginger and Floss the white one. You can tell who doesn't have the problem with cuddles! Thanks again for your advice.

My pigs get daily roaming time in the living room, but to be honest, a fair number of my middle aged girls can't be really bothered...

I wouldn't worry; Meg is just arranging her life to her own liking and is confident and happy in her life to do so. Not all piggies are big cuddlers. You may tempt her to stay a bit longer with a little herbal treat? As long as she is still happy to interact with you on her own terms, she is not loving you any less.

OMG Meg and Floss are so gorgeous  Thanks for those photos :)

My Mrs Fuzzy is the same, used to sit on me for hours but when she joined the herd she changed (in a good way) and I can't keep her on my lap for more than 5 seconds now, she wants to be off playing.

Your girls are beautiful, welcome to the forum.
