My older guinea pig, who I believe is the alpha, has started chasing my younger guinea pig around the cage (the younger one squeaks really loudly) and has just been very aggressive towards her (or so I've seen). I thought some time apart would do them some good and after some time alone I put them both in the play area to get rid of some energy and once back in the cage she was chasing the little one again! I was getting freaked out so I held the older one in my lap for a bit before putting her back. They're both fine now, in separate areas but I'm still a little worried about leaving them alone...

I know sows in season can be a little hormonal (I'm hoping this is the reason) but could a bigger cage fix the issue? They've been together for over 2 months now if that helps.

If it's just the usual chasing and humping I would leave them to sort it out. This is just normal behaviour and will normally only last a day. How old is your older sow? I would suggest that if this behaviour continues it may be worth a vet check to rule out ovarian cysts or anything else that may be getting her irritable.
Hope this helps.

Well there's no humping involved but so far from what I've seen today (I haven't been home long) they're fine. I suppose I over reacted. I actually don't know how old either of them are :( when I got them I was so excited I forgot to ask... Thank you for your answer though! I'll make sure to take her to the vet if it continues.
