hi

I am currently introducing a sow to a neutered male. My sow has been living with two other sows for 3.5 years but has been showing signs she was being bullied (become skittish/nervous/other steal her food/she is much smaller than the other two but they all happily nap and eat together)

When she is with the boar
1 she make very stressed submissive squeaks when ever he goes near her
2 she won’t let him mount her and wees on him
3 there has been no aggression or nipping
4 they are happy to eat near one another

I don’t want her to Be even more unhappy with the boar. Can you tell me if these signs are ok and I should carry on or put her back with the sows?

Thanks

Please carry on. This is typical behaviour for a sow that is not in season. They have a special whine when with boars which translates as 'I am not ready for mating but I will be'. Generally a sow that is vocal but not aggressive means that acceptance has happened.
Please brace yourself that the first season is going to be a strong one as the pheromones will kick in fully. The shared experience of the excess of emotions will bond them a lot more closely.

Sorry for the VERY late reply but thank you! A few months later it has worked and Ruby and Sammy are living together as a happily married couple!
