Off to vets in the morning with Picles. Life with GPs is a roller coaster. Thought he was a bit off last night but ate veggies and weight was ok. Definitely subdued after lawn time today, not helped by Crumble being in a mounting phase. Separated for tonight and given him some Loxicom, fibreplex and some syringe feed. Just got second wind eating rest of his veggies, which is good as 100g down on last night (still daily weighing after recent issues).

All the best!

100g loss in a day means that he has hardly eaten and drunk in 24 hours, so please up your syringe feeding amount and intervals to keep him going.
Keep in mind that the syringe feeding mainly replaces the 80% of hay/grass fibre that a piggy eats in a day. Veg and pellets replace the supplementary role that wild forage used to have.

Reluctant to walk much (a bit stiff at the rear) but apart from him not cleaning out his cheek pouches again nothing obvious. Pain relief/ anti-inflammatory plus emeprid gut stimulant like last month and supplement feeding. Must make sure we help keep his hamster pouches clear (he’s like a giant hamster stuffing his cheeks!). Cage separator to stop Crumble from clambering all over him while he’s less mobile. Back on Monday morning for X-rays to see if there’s anything else.

Weight stable but still below average though he’s a lot more active and chatty so feeling positive about that. Need to up the supplementary feeding this week to regain around 60-100g. Crumble isn’t enjoying the divider but Pickles is unconcerned! Think we’ll still go ahead with X-ray tomorrow but not risk free.

Glad you’ve seen some improvement. Hope the vet appointment goes well.

Couple of X-rays and he’s home again. On metacam twice a day for what is probably arthritis and stiffness in his rear legs plus likely a temporary strain too. Eating normally but had his cheeks fully cleared by our regular GP vet and we have to keep on top of that. He has an oddly attached tongue which may explain his hamster tendencies but otherwise all ok as far as we can tell. Follow up check after the BH weekend.
