Anyone experience very stubborn sows lol? Although my girls are very playful and loud they can be very stubborn lol. Also, does anyone find girls to be messy? Mine love to kick their wood shavings out

I am not sure quite what you mean by stubborn but Wiebke and I have been there and got the t shirts when it comes to bonding difficult sows. I seem to have had more than my fair share both in the rescue and my own!

I have a very bossy sow, Primrose! Stanley rumblestruts all the time and thinks he's in charge and she humours him to an extent...but Primrose mostly takes the lead in matters and he trails happily behind her. She's the first one in the hay tray, the first one in line for veg, the first to 'nag' me if I'm not doing something right or quickly enough as far as she is concerned, the first one out for floor time and a great head-butter and shoulder-charger of anything in her way (usually me!)

God, don't get me started on sows and their quirks!

Messiness is not gender specific; but relies more on the background - piggies growing up in filth will never have a chance to develop tidy habits. After a few generations, that is fully gone. :mal:
I have also groups that like nothing better than spreading hay all over the fleece and toiletting on it; they have obviously grown up on loose bedding. With Tesni I ended up putting her and her two companions in a traditional cage on traditional bedding after 5 years of fun and games because she would pull off any hay literally as soon as I'd put it in the tray...
Right now, it looks like my latest adoptee Alan is a worthy successor to her! So no gender link there!

I mean that they like their veggies at a certain time and they know when they are suppose to get it lol

When it comes to veggies mine go crazy! I have a baby at the moment that runs and hides with her food. I try to cut it in smaller pieces so she doesn't feel like it will get taken away. Also, mine can be very bossy with each other at times but they have never gotten violent

I deep clean their home once a week and spot clean every day, but I think it is when they are doing their zoomies it all flies everywhere lol. When it comes to actual personal hygiene they are very clean. When it comes to hay I use hayracks, but there have been times where I place it on the floor and they love it. The only problem is they wee and poo on it if I do that.
