Hi guys!

We've got some rabbits, two I believe are giants or in any case very large rabbits and one is a normal sized.

Flick the normal sized doe's nails are perfectly fine, I think she spends a lot of time in the run so files them down naturally but my two large/giant grey rabbits seems to struggle to keep the nails a good length.

Now my rabbits are quite.... Um wild? They're happy to be strokes but don't massively like being held, picked up or anything like that So getting them to stay still for nail trims is a hassle... but I have no idea how long a rabbits nails should be,
Are their nails like guinea pigs where the blood vessel is very far down in long nails, and it has to be trimmed over time or can the excess length be taken off in one snip?

And how long should their nails be?
Does anyone have photos of the ideal length for rabbits nails?
I feel a bit out of my depth here. :/

Hiya I'm sorry but I'm not going to be able to advise you much other than to send you some good luck. I had a very small tame rabbit for years and I used to have to clip his nails regularly. I could sit him on my knee like a guinea pig & as long as he had his favourite dandelion to chew at same time, he used to co-operate. I found having a towel on my knee used to make him sit still for longer. I'm sure someone will offer more advise than i can. Xx

Yes very similar to guinea pigs re the quick. You may be able to getna vet nurse to do them for you. My pet sitter does them, found her number in a local pet shop. Good luck. I find nail trimming quite a challenge ...

Glad I'm not the only one
I was mainly wondering about the quick thing,
I'm getting there so think I will manage somehow

My rabbit was far far better behaved than my late guinea pig when nail clipping was concerned. Rabbit sat super still where as piggie wriggled & squirmed, squeeked & misbehaved every time. Good luck & let us know how you get on. Xx
