Hi, I’ve been posting about my boar problems this week and feel like we’ve found the culprit. During bonding them I’ve noticed Bruno squatting like he’s trying to poo then squeaking, been hearing squeaking for a bit but wasn’t sure which pig. We have a vet appointment tomorrow and I’m just wondering if I should try them together tomorrow or put them back in together today. They’re absolutely fine during bonding we have zoomies and popcorns and accepted humping. Just seems to be in the cage where it goes downhill? Sorry for multiple posts, but something is definitely making Bruno uncomfortable!

Are you sure it’s when he’s trying to poo rather than go for a pee? As it can be a sign of a UTI etc, my Rupert did it a lot with his pee and stone issues. Glad you’ve got a vet appointment for him :hug:xx

I think it could be either, I’m out of my depth with this one as it’s never happened before :( I just see him squatting followed by disgruntled “weeeeeEEE” bless him xx

Aw bless him, don’t worry we’re all here to help! :) I’d probably try and get a pee sample before your vet appointment tomorrow so they can check in case it is a UTI etc.
How To Collect A Urine Sample
It might not be of course but definitely worth checking if he’s squatting and crying poor chap xx

will try my best to get one for tomorrow morning. Haven’t slept and have my online classes soon. No rest for the Guinea slaves! Would you leave them separated for now or remove the divider? They’re absolutely fine in neutral territory at the moment x

Poor you, hope you get a rest! If it’s all peaceful I’d probably leave them how they are for now? If Bruno is feeling a bit poorly he might get a bit annoyed with Ozzy getting him etc. xx

bruno is usually the one doing the getting! They’re eating together peacefully at the moment so fingers crossed xx

Oh yes course, the naughty man! Sometimes these piggles can be a bit mean if another’s poorly (Luigi did it with the RB boss Jess when she was ill the meany!) but hopefully as Ozzy is the better behaved they might be good for you! 🤞🤞 Sure Bruno would like a pal going to the vet’s tomoz so he better be a good boy! Hope they stay calm  xx

Does sound like this may be squeaky wees and a UTI or cystitis... stress can often trigger urinary problems too which with the naughty boar squabbles you've been seeing sounds like stress all round (especially for you!).
The vet should be able to get him to squeeze out a few drops of pee for dipstick tests to check for blood or protein in the pee either or both of which might indicate an infection, and also have a good listen to his tummy to check his guts are gurgling away happily brewing up poops like they are supposed to x

I think it might be squeaky wees and a potential uti, I’m glad the vet should be able to get a few pee drops from him because he’s the most uncooperative piggie! It’s hard to tell with it being the first time either of them have had a problem going to the toilet :( all I know is he’s having trouble, was meant to be going to sleep but I’m still awake worrying about him :( x

Hi!

Very sorry. The kind of big temperature swings we have had recently are prime conditions for urinary and respiratory infections to hit.

However, have you checked his boar bits for sperm rods etc.? Large ones can also cause pain when pooing.

Haven’t been able to look at his bits, Bruno is very very uncooperative! Once my fiancé is awake we will look, Bruno is a 2 man job x

The vet popped his bits out and his bits are fine, he did a massive wee all over her table as well. She gave him metacam for the pain he’s been having, injection today and I give him some every day until Tuesday now, and see how he goes. She said if he doesn’t improve he will need X-rays to look for bladder crystals/stones x
