Chewies Behavior has changed quite a bit and matches the stropy phase
he even has made some unusual aggressive motions towards his cagemate Brian

if it continues i may have to separate them :(

Chewie is about 4-5-6 months old i think, when is this stage supposed to stop?

can anyone give me some advice or tell me of some behavior i might expect to see in the future so as not to be surprised and prepared

thanks in advance

can be up to 12 months. I currently have a stroppy teenager atm who is nearly 8 months.

Rumbling
Marking - butt on the floor
Mounting
Chasing

*tear*

they used to seem like the best of friends but tonight I'm hearing a lot of rumbling, nervous sounding chuting and heavy teeth chattering with some chasing....i think its chasing...no squiels or anything yet... I'm so nervous, if i separate them then that means i have 3 boys in separate cages...

this is getting a little bit out of hand, how should i continue with them?
will they go back to being friends? or is this more or less a "Falling out"

15 minutes later its now all quiet, with the occasional whining sound....no more agressive noises....
but still I'm under the clear impression my boys are no longer happy, come to think of it, it has been a while since i have seen them popcorn.
what can i do to improve their lives together and perhaps ease any tension?

when i got my first pair of boars i was told if they start to argue bath them together and they may rebond as they will stick to each other as they are a bit scared, i did it three times with my last set of boys before i lost them, and it worked every time.

thanks for that advice, i gave them a bath today and they just chilled out,

apart from being scared of me now they are not fighting anymore haha
thanks for that ^^

They don't class each other as "friends", they're not overly cuddly with each other either. Unlike herd animals like elephants, they're more like zebra where they don't really care for one another, they are purely there for themselves, rather selfish animals but its safety in numbers and they're "number one" in their eyes.

Anyway.. to the point, this will come and go and can be all their lives even! Until you see blood, don't worry. That is when its gotten too far and as soon as they know they can break each others skin, the one who's wounded will be an easy target for more beatings basically. The behaviour is perfectly normal and nothing to worry about until obviously you see blood, then they must be separated.

By the sounds of your last post, things calmed down enough for them so hopefully all is well.

well the first 24 hours was great, no fighting, sharing, even following.

but this morning i woke to the small encounters of teeth chatter....
i assume because brian, my youngest has matured somewhat in to closer being a mature boy, right now there is clearly no way to mistake him for a girl as i once did, in short hes grown a pair thats quite visible when holding him, so perhaps Chewie has taken note of this and perhaps now they need to scrap around to see who is the dominant one? or perhaps just teen angst

il keep them together until there is blood drawn.

by the way, this would be a bad time to try and introduce Alf to the cage? or should i wait until their stopy phase is finished
