Our female guinea pig Flequita is a little over a year old. In the past week, we noticed that her fur seemed to be tufted or sticking out above her back left leg. She doesn't love being touched in that area, so it's hard to feel for any lump, but it does seem like there's something there (although it could just be the tufted fur itself).
We took her to a vet yesterday that specializes in exotic animals - they felt around pretty extensively and said they didn't feel anything but did see the hair sticking out like we said. They said we could do an imaging test but didn't really push the idea (especially since they didn't feel anything notable).
She seems totally normal otherwise - hungry as ever, active, pooping normally, etc.
What could this be? Should we try to get a second opinion? Is there anything we should be watching for?
