Hello,
Our 4 year old Pumpkin has a wierd tooth. I'm not sure if it got split or broken or whats going on. He is acting completely himself - happy, eating, drinking, pooing & peeing normally. He has a normal temperature, no signs of absess or bleeding and he lets me feel all around. We have had guineas with dental problems before, but I have never seen a tooth like this. We have an appointment at the vet in two weeks but I'm curious as to if anyone has seen a tooth like this before - rough and discolored all along one side. It did have a piece of hay stuck, but I was able to remove that. Any advice welcome.
Thanks!

I took Percy to the vets last week for a weird tooth. The vet wasn’t sure exactly what had caused it but as Percy is eating and drinking and not losing weight she said just to keep an eye on it. I will attach a picture of Percy’s tooth.

I hope you get on ok at the vets. As their teeth continuously grow they can grow out damaged teeth.

Hi! As long as your piggie hasn't lost any weight and still eats/acts normal I wouldn't worry about it, it could just be staining from food getting stuck, I've had that happen with one of my girls before

He's acting normal which is great, but I really dont think its just staining. The texture and look of it is way off. At first it looked like hard calculus or something stuck to the tooth, but not sure they get calculus haha. Upon further looking it seems like a piece of tooth missing down the side but I've never seen a broken tooth look like this. Will keep looking at it every day, hoping it grows out normal!

Thank you. Looking online through pictures, this is the first one that actually looks anything close to his so I appreciate your reply.

if your piggie is eating well and has no other signs of illnesses I would leave well alone, It’s probably a build up of tartar if he’s had a bit of hay stuck up against his tooth. Burring the an incisor can unbalance the rest of the teeth and then require regular treatments. I would keep a close eye on his weight and eating, you may find that the incisor will wear clean now the hay has been removed.
My Bill broke an incisor and despite a rush up to the vets he later developed strange growth when the tooth grew back which then affected all four of his incisors which needed a regular burring for the rest of this life, he never had any problems eating at all

Before and after a conscious dental burr (tidy up)
