So we’ve had some strange goings on with Thor this week.
Thor is my 5 year old boar. Earlier this week I thought we were going to lose him. He stopped eating hay, was only tentatively eating veggies and didn’t want to move out of his hide. He had lost a lot of weight very quickly. There were some strange jaw movements, so I suspected dental. But I was unsure if dental were a secondary problem as he was acting very poorly, and wobbly on his feet (like something else was going on). His balance was poor.
We stepped in with support feeding and I was trying to rearrange work to be able to take him to Northampton.
Fast forward to the last couple of days. He’s eating again, has gained back 80g and is still gaining. He’s eating again hay again, is very active and running around wheeking for food as he always did. Like nothing happened?
I’ve stopped support feeding, only giving him some once a day, and he’s continuing to gain weight on his own
How strange. Has anyone any thoughts?
I’m closely monitoring him. I’ll be calling the vet on Monday anyway, for a check up
