My piggy was sick the last couple of weeks, but these days he was doing better. I noticed that he makes a certain sound while he is in his cage. I recorded him, but in the recording he is in my lap. Sometimes he makes that sound after eating or when eating. I am talking about the deep one. Is that something to be concerned about? He was on antibiotic recently. I don't know how to explain that sound, but he wasn't doing that before.

Hi

Our forum is not part of social media (which has its major advantages) but since we are run entirely by voluntary member donations we do not have a video upload facility. Please upload any videos on a public setting on site that doesn't rely on member sign in (youtube would be best) and then copy across into your post.

Guinea pig airways are very small and they are not much in the way of mouth breathers so the least obstruction in the nasal passages is always very audible and can sound alarming. This usually becomes more noticeable when your piggy is using the mouth for eating.

Hi

I wasn't aware of that. I was trying to upload just the mp3 file.

.
I was talking about the 2 deep sounds he makes in that recording. Not the other ones. He makes those deep ones quite often. Started yesterday.

Hi

It sounds a touch crackly; if it is not persistent and just occasional then it is likely a mild sensitivity to hay dust.
If it is getting worse or is becoming constant or if you have any concerns, please see a vet.
